Does anyone know if the packs are ready for collection at the store or leagues club yet? For those who got theirs on the BBQ thing on Saturday ,how does the pack compare to 2011?

I picked mine up at the x-mas in the park.

In summary:
- The pack is fairly boring and outdated
- The hat is very small for an adult (maybe I got the kids one by mistake)
- Keyring is the same as last years
- One sticker
and,
- the lanyard has gone straight into the bin as per usual. If I actually get another lanyard next time round i might end up choking myself with it.

Why couldn't they just give us a footy or something that is actually useful.

This years hat design was really subpar IMO, real bland. Which is a shame because the 2009-2010 hats were really good IMO.

2010 hat is with me forever, one reason is obvious, the other is cause the design is awesome. White with a red v in the middle. Who designs these packs? The best thing they had was the mini cooler bag a few years ago. Is it so hard to put out packs with items that most would find useful?
Ideas would be something like:
10 to 20% off subscribtion to rlw or big league
Discount at kog and win food outlets excluding grog.
Cooler bag/mini thermos
Choice of beanie or scarf
This to go with the usual poster, hat, key ring, lanyard etc

I wouldn't mind seeing a polo shirt and none of the other plastic crap. They only cost $10-15 to bring in a good quality one from china when you are buying 10000 of them. I am one of the few around here who didn't mind last years scarf, but don't need to do that every year.

I think one good suggestion would be to offer 40% of this years jersey when you sign up a lot of people would go for it IMO and would increase jersey sales.

Something like that or offer 50% off a polo shirt, jumper etc.

This tips into a bigger trend I see with the "Dragons brand" and the tone / strategy of the clubs marketing. They are taking more and more and giving back less and less. I know we hear it over and over how "times are tough" for NRL clubs but seriously, the club has never had more members or higher attendances not to mention the leagues club bubbling away. The amount of advertising at home games is insulting. The website is so crammed with ads it hurts my eyes. A very disturbing trend that I no doubt hear the marketing guru's calling "progress".

They need to give more in house deals It's true. What better way to increase sales in almost everything then by giving better discounts, making members actually save money in ways they can see on any given day. Surely the increase in actual sales will make up for any lost dollar value.
Dragons memberships have pretty much been the same since my first in 98, not much bang for buck

For example we are sponsored by a bank are we not? Why can't the club work out a deal to get awesome mortage rates for red v members/no account keeping fees/higher interest rates on savings accounts etc. Then advertise the shit out of the savings in dollars and cents. Good PR for st.george, increase in members, good PR for dragons.

Spot on st. phil.

The merchandising is that far behind the times it defies belief. Whilst I'm a traditionalist, and the Red V Jersey etc should never be changed, there is a huge opportunity to give the rest of our merchandise a complete overhaul.
Things that people can wear in everyday life, and not just to the gym or to the footy would be a start.

The "times are tough" line doesn't cut it. Instead of the same rubbish designs, and plain red polos year on year, give us fans things worth buying. With this, sales will increase big time.

I bought an Interstate Membership for my mum, but there was no where to include her postal address, so I don't know how they expect to send her pack? Kinda defeats the purpose of an "Interstate" membership if you have to pick up your pack from the club.....

not happy jan. the hat is a disgrace. looks like rubbish and won't fit my head. made for a kid would be my guess. the time has come for changes to be made to the person that is responsible for the crap we sometimes get.

call the club and ask to speak to Michael McDonald. I am sure they would be interested in feedback.

I might just do that.
The club's facebook effort mirrors other parts of the membership/merchandising process.
For example ... just a week or two ago the minion responsible for monitoring the FB stream was caught out a little.
The club made some statement about the 2012 packs being ready for pickup and that they would be mailed to interstate members.
I asked if this extended to ticketed members who live interstate or just "interstate members" as in past years (not that it is a big deal to pick the pack up at a game). The grand statement was then edited to "interstate non ticketed" members (although I do not know why non ticketed members get theirs sent out and ticketed mebers do not although it is not a big deal).
There was also an addition to the grand statement that the packs would be available at all trial games and the first few home games (although nobody knows which venue they shall be at).
I replied to this one to check that the packs would be available at the trial in Perth (although it should have been a redundant question based on the earlier grand statement).
I could have been knocked over with a feather when the grand statement was edited again to say that the packs would be available at the trial against the trainwreckers and at 50uff$ Grand Final.
I guess the problem is that I will follow the team as I long as I live but I tend to get the shits with the ongoing general incompetence and amateurism which tend to be hallmarks of our membership and merchandising systems.

just looked inside the packs and they are shit. Same keyring as last year ( i have all the different ones since 99 and now I have two the same ). The quality of the cap is exceptionally poor. A really shit pen, a lanyard and holder and thats it. The box it comes in is good, but it would be expensive to post - hence as many changes in the clubs tune as the Pixies going loud, soft, loud.

Considering the huge swell towards enforcing memberships in the last few years from all clubs and the nrl as the best way to show your support/help the club etc I think the Dragons fans have been dudded. The general consensus is we will travel the ends of the earth to watch the red v in action, in short, we love the club so much we will settle just because it has "the brand" attached to it. Perfect example is the season tickets. Why is it not possible to offer a deal to life long red v members? A sign that these people, who have been with and invested in the club their hard earned since day one are actually appreciated and valued.
Why not? Because if anyone cancels their ticket there is always someone to take their place. This is the trend I see most people are pointing to. "its ok, their Dragons fans, it won't matter they will still buy it/get it/go to it"
I love my team and will follow them till the day my toes turn up, It's just sad that mediocrity is put forward like this and we are powerless to change it
