SUPERSTAR Sonny Bill Williams is on the verge of signing a $4 million deal to return to the NRL with the Sydney Roosters.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal Williams' five-year agreement was all but finalised over a breakfast meeting in Circular Quay yesterday with Roosters chairman Nick Politis and Channel Nine supremo David Gyngell.

He will join the Roosters in 2013 on $800,000 a season, exactly double what he was on when he walked out, without notice, on the Bulldogs in 2008 to join Toulon in French rugby union.

SBW god! he was decent for the All Blacks but nothing more than a bench player, in rugby league he can once again become the greatest 2nd rower in the game. Any clauses to him to box in that contract?

The odds of him lasting the 5 years are about the same as what the contract is worth.

f**k YES!!!

I've always wanted to see him back in the NRL just not with the bulldogs. Heard he would have signed with any club except the dogs, he hates Greenberg with a passion. Who can blame him?

What do you mean once again? He never was and never will be. He is an over rated injury prone hack who's pretty body can not handle the week to week punishment the NRL dishes out. He is much more suited to the cream puff style of play that union dishes out. Odds on he will be injured within the first few weeks of season 2013.

He will have to be v.selective when going for big hits, body management. He's obviously awsome going forward. But as with everyone, they need fairly good players around them. Except for possibly A.Johns. Anyway, hope he comes back in 2013. Welcome back Sonny Bill.

Will be good seeing play for the Kiwis once again

Not sure if any player is worth $800k a year - that's ridiculous money

If true, the Roosters must be banking on a massive increase in the cap to allow themselves to retain more than 5 people in their squad in 2013. Thats rather risky if you ask me. Unless of course the amount quoted is a load of bullshit.

The issue I always had with the Bulldogs spending big on SBW when he was here last time was he sucked up so much of their cap that if he was injured (which he was more than once) they didnt have anyone of any quality to replace him with. Take him out of their pack in the last season he played here and the Dogs were very thin.

I wonder how many we have to dump to make room for him? I know Mini isnt going to last much longer, but most of the rest of our squad is rather young. Maybe with Maloney coming that this will signal the end of Braith at the Roosters.
