What advantage do teams gain by not playing the ball correctly with their feet? ....1 second advantage?????

Are these referees nit picking and trying to find a penalty?

Why do these referees go on a biltz about on particular offence then turn a blind eye to towards this rule middle of the season?

A quick sloppy play the ball and not standing up properly.

It's the rules. Something that your mob couldn't get a grasp of. You'd think after getting penalised once for it that they wouldn't do it another 2 times?

Most kids learn their lesson after getting in trouble for something once.

Depends on the player.

Weyman for instance used to not only not strike with the foot but also be pushing his body forward effectively engaging the first marker. Didnt see all of Saturdays game so cant comment on those.

Also one second can be the difference between markers and line being offside or not

Nitpicky or not, that's the rule. We're not playing rugby union, so you play the ball with your foot, not a difficult concept really

Don't know about the rest of the country but up in Group 2 JRL we learnt that in Under 7's.

But why isn't this rule policed every game , every round?

You are not the first person to realise that the referee's are consistently inconsistent. You will not be the last either. End of the day be grateful that you were not beat by shonky decisions eg sharks in round 1

I'm a dragons supporter, but I think the refs are 100% right here. The dragons were just playing like crap and deserved to get flogged.

Its stupid not to admit it. Trying to blame the refs is just hiding the reality that the dragons were awful and deserved everything they got.

If they played the ball correctly there would have been no penalty. Idiots.

I think things like incorrect play the balls should result in scrums. you're already penalising the team by taking away possession, i don't see why the defending team should also be able to go another 30m upfield or kick a penalty goal because of it.

as gus would say - "would they penalsie it on gf day?"
