Hayne blame - knives out for Eels star

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...-knives-out-for-eels-star-20120324-1vqxo.html

IT SEEMS as soon as the Eels hit a rough patch, news filters out of Parramatta that all is not well on the Jarryd Hayne front. I've always been a Hayne supporter - yes, he can appear aloof or even uninterested at times. The word I'm getting is there are cliques in the Parra camp: a division between those who like Hayne and those who wish he'd do more for the side. Some players were even wondering about the severity of the knee injury he suffered, but after chasing him around from recovery sessions to physio it looked pretty significant to me. I watched him train on Thursday and he certainly was favouring his leg. Some players say he was better at half-time of the game when he hurt himself - they believe he doesn't work that hard at rehabilitation. The line that Hayne was unhappy at the club was thrown at me during the week. "Not true at all," said his manager, Wayne Beavis. ''Jarryd is happy at Parramatta, he is under contract. He is frustrated at being injured, like any player.'' The Eels need a fit and focused Hayne in action in a hurry. Hayne seems to wear the blame more than any other player at the club. Coach Stephen Kearney is copping heaps, but every player I talk to at the Eels rates him. He is a stern figure with a real caring side. Captain Nathan Hindmarsh is also in the firing line, and it's true he hasn't had a huge impact so far this season. The argument that he is not smashing blokes in tackles is valid - but his worth to the side as a leader is massive. He has told the club he is quitting at the end of the year and he will be tough to replace as an inspirational figure. It might sound crazy, but making Hayne skipper may solve a few issues. Not many players at the club will back that view, however.

I have always maintained that inu and mateos departure would affect him

In the warriors game, mateo was the first to comfort him when he went down

This is the one that I didn't post. This is just rumour mongering at it's best.

I heard Hayne was jumping around in the dressing room saying he was right to go at half time when he got injured. Andrew Johns reported it. It's odd.

Some of those rifts with the senior and younger players have been here since 08 IMO, Hayne cops a lot of unfair crap IMO. He set the bar so high in 09 when he doesn't score two tries run 200m and make 3 LB's people think he has been quiet. Last seaon he was playing two roles and still he was getting called lazy and disinterested. Go figure.

And ended the year with 26 try assists.

the fact that in 2011 the eels were the lowest team for tries scored but jarryd was still one of the top players in the nrl for try assists says a lot doesnt it

and if any eels players are wishing jarryd would do more for the side they need to start doing a bit themselves

The same as the great and wonderful amazing Benji Marshall  Honestly some people just have no idea, if we manage to loose a blue chip player like Hayne we may as well give up.

It will be very hard for the club to keep him when his contract is up

Well that will do me, we should be looking to build a team around this bloke. When fit and playing well there is no one better in the game of RL.

We should be building a team around him but he will be demanding money that we probably can't give him.

The point remains, which club out there will give him the money he demands.

Probably Zero
