Who the heck is Jamie Buhrer ??

not by preference.

That's the problem. People don't watch Manly play and when a Manly player gets selected in a rep side they want to have a whinge because they have no idea who the player is let alone what they offer a team. Buhrer is basically a young version of Steve Menzies with the added bonus of being a very good hooker.

And yet we have had Manly fans(i presume they watch the games) say he is not ready.

Just because someone doesnt think a Manly player is good doesnt mean they dont watch the games.

I've said before that if I was selecting the team he wouldn't be there. But to blow up like he is some nuffy that is a weak link in his club side is ludicrous. I think he is one of those players that was always going to play origin at some point, very few thought it would be this year though.

I'm not saying 'Ferris' Buhrer is not a good player, I'm just saying there are ten players you would pick before him.

Name them.

I would take anyone of these players before I take Ferris. BUT I will be cheering hard for Ferris as he is in now and we have to support him.

Feleti Mateo (Utility)
Braith Anasta (Utility)
John Sutton (Utility)
Josh Reynolds (Utility)
Peter Wallace (Half, Hooker)
Jarrod Mullen (Utility)
Tariq Sims (Prop, 2nd row, lock, )
Anthony Watmough (Prop, 2nd row, lock)
Aaron Woods (Prop, 2nd row, lock)
Bryce Gibbs (Prop, 2nd row, lock)
Andrew Fifita (Prop, 2nd row, lock)
Kade Snowden (Prop, 2nd row, lock)
Jarrod Croker (Utility)
Tom Learoyd-Lahrs (Prop, 2nd row, lock)
Ryan Hinchcliffe (Prop, 2nd row, lock, hooker)
Ryan Hoffman (Prop, 2nd row, lock)
Luke Douglas (Prop, 2nd row, lock)
Jamal Idris (Centre, wing, 2nd row, front row)
Anthony Minichiello (Fullback, wing, centre, 5/8, dummy half)
Mitch Rein (Lock, Hooker)

There are 20 blokes straight off the bat that should be there before Ferris Buhrer. Whether they are Utilities, or seconds rowers, or out and out front rowers, they will unfortunately offer more value in the side than what Ferris would.

Luke Lewis, Jarryd Hayne and Robbie Farah can be rotated around the team to cover utility. Ben Creagh can even play out wide. It is all covered. Ferris was only picked because he is on a small contract at the Sea Eagles and Fulton is supplementing his salary by picking him.

We all know that that is what it is.

Nothing else.

Had me sold until you listed Peter Wallace. Wallace is injured. I thought adding Jarrod Croker was a nice touch; sure you didn't mean Jason? Jason would make a lot more sense.

When I read Jarrod Croker I though skeepe posted that list.

LOL@Idris. Buhrer has some of the best footwork in the game. Idris is fat and slow. If you want to send someone over the try line from 10 metres out, give it to Trex.

You have to look at what he brings apart from covering for injuries, he's not particularly fast or massively strong.
He has some decent skills but I think he mostly a bit part player.
With Farah playing 80 mins, he has no real use other than to fill the left field bolter quota for the year.
Hinchcliffe was the man for the job.

Mein Bührer is the second fastest player at Manly behind Snake so there goes your "not particularly fast" theory, especially given there are some pretty quick blokes like Oldfield and the Wolfman there. What exactly is he lacking? He can cover most positions except FB, HB and prop, his passing game is great, he can find holes that don't seem to exist and he gets good offloads to players in space.
The crux of the the argument against him is that he's a Manly player.

Over 40 meters.

Agree with all else.

Over 40m is probably the most important speed to have in rugby league. Maintaining speed over 100m is very rarely needed.

Haha there's no way he's quicker than Oldfield, Wolfie, Matai, Whare over any distance. He's no slouch, but I think you've made that up. Watmough would be quicker than him too.
