Coach tells Dragons: stop the errors

STEVE Price has issued a warning to his St George Illawarra charges: curb your basic errors or face further losses.
The Dragons are in the midst of a three-game losing streak when they host Parramatta in their final game of the season at WIN Jubilee Oval on Saturday night.

Simple handling errors proved costly against South Sydney in their golden-point loss last Sunday.
The Dragons dropped the ball just seven times but the Rabbitohs made them pay.

Price was blunt on what needed to change.
‘‘Errors were made at crucial times,’’ Price said.
‘‘I thought we moved the ball around well at times and moved their defence.

‘‘But we came up with three crucial errors on play one.’’
Five-eighth Jamie Soward has already declared the Dragons will be playing for their season on Saturday night.
They have slipped to 11th on the premiership ladder and face a desperate Eels side which have won just one of their nine matches this year.
‘‘They are still a proud footy club,’’ Price said. ‘‘We’ve got to get ourselves right so we can put in a good performance for our last game [at Kogarah] of the year.

‘‘We’ve got a tremendous work ethic among our football club.
‘‘You’ve just got to keep belief in what works and we know what does work for us.’’

Meanwhile, interchange hooker Cameron King is confident he has overcome his latest injury setback as he looks to play in back-to-back NRL games for the first time in his blossoming career.

King returned from a broken thumb against South Sydney.
‘‘I’ve had a rough couple of years,’’ King, 20, said. ‘‘It’s been more frustrating than anything.
‘‘The times I’ve got injured it wasn’t really my fault but it’s just part of footy.

‘‘There are times you think ‘why me’ but if you go down that path you see guys fall out of the game.’’
King was solid in his 30 minutes from the interchange bench after relieving starting rake Mitch Rein.

He has a chance to establish himself as a NRL player while Nathan Fien (knee) spends at least another three weeks on the sidelines.
‘‘You need back to back games to get your confidence and match fitness up,’’ King said.

‘‘Price has told me that if I see something with the ball I should go for it and to make sure I get my defence right.’’

During his latest injury break King inked a new two-year deal with the club, fending away offers from at least two NRL clubs including Newcastle.
‘‘I always wanted to stay here and get it done early,’’ King said. ‘‘I’ve known Pricey for a while know and we’ve got a good relationship.
‘‘He looked after me when I came into the 20s and I owe him a lot.’’
Representative backrower Beau Scott (elbow) will return on Saturday. Brett Morris is expected to overcome an ankle injury and play.

Dragons tell coach: "the errors will stop when you play us in our correct positions and give us a game plan we are capable of implementing" ...

Easy fix Pricey drop Vidot and your errors drop significantly. Its' Vidot's errors that has cost the Saints 2 games against Souths and Penrith, no one elses.

In saying that Vidot had a better game against Parra. Hopefully his confidence is up and his errors drop.

I would like to see Vidot used closer to the try line in attack. Kind of like Manly use Tony Williams. He never seems to be thereabouts looking for the ball. I guess he's waiting on the wing to get the ball. None of our forwards seem capable of crashing through out wide.

i think this also comes down to our halfback not being able to put the guy into the hole, and time the pass correctly..
the forwards like creagh have the ability to run to the hole, but our halfback doesnt have the ability to put them through it...

put some one like cherry evans, foran, cronk into our team and suddenly all these current "under performing" forwards would look like champions..

It's also because the backling is running sideways and the wingers are running out of room.

have you noticed Hornby's latest thing.... runs sideways at half pace... does nothing...waits for the defence to be in his face and then dumps the ball inside to a forward standing still so they can get hammered....

whats with that rubbish?
did it a few times on the weekend and previous weeks as well...

Agree with the coach, but could you imagine the difference if we had a genuine matching winning half back to direct us around the park, barking orders and then putting on that matching winning play, kick etc.

You concentrate on your 6,9,1 & 7 and the rest will take care of itself. This year our 1 is struggling, our 7 is running on tired legs, our 6 is okay and our 9 is getting better with each game and should develop into a good player. So we only have IMO 2/4, maybe 2.5. Until we find a new half, I don't think a great deal is going to change.

I'm sorry I posted this. It has obviously been taken down and used against other players.

Turn it up Bring Back c**k! Give yourself a hand across the face and 10 in the bin for that. All those boys are good sticks.

Oh c'mon.. Tongue in cheek. Geesus.
But I do think hunt is under performing. There's no question about it.
I want a barn stormer from him. No excuses. No origin for him so he needs to just let loose. I just wonder if price is saying the right things to him.

He's got it in him. He has one MotM performance already this year. He's a good stick, he'll come good :music2:

Oh of course, it's natural for a keyboard warrior to wonder if a bloke who's spent the last few years under Wayne Bennett is saying the right things. If only Price and Hunt had you as their mentor, hey chuckles?
