Thank you.

Parents are nervous about me joining the military and have shown me the 7:30 report article on Navy hazing/bullying.

Also nervous about that aspect but apperantly the ADF have cracked down on it according to previous reports through the years. 8-[
Hazing/bullying happens...and it always has. Deal with it. Todays politically correct society deams things unacceptable these days that were just laughed off by all involved in the past.Although being on a ship would limit escapes/outlets if constantly bullied than those that are land based.Been on a few navy ships and couldnt wait to get off the bastards.

How many tours of Vietnam did you do?:sarcasm:

They are changing the BFA again soon, its going to involve more functional tests according to what corp you are in. There has been a big study into it.

Give me a break mate i joined in 1987 the BFA was 5klm had to do a minimum 7 heaves (chinups) and minimum 75 situps in a timeframe of (if i remember correctly) 2 minutes?

The CFA was 15klm in 2hrs 10 run dodge jump course in less than a minute and firemans carry 100 metres in less than a minute, and up and down the ropes twice with webbing and rifle (slr) without touching the ground in between

I didnt even bother reading the article. The media loves the ADF at the moment and will use anything against us.

Abuse and bastardisation is a rarity these days, the media just beats it up. It would be no more than what you would find in the civillian world. It is the same when there is a drug bust in the ADF, the media touts us all as drug addicts when infact the ADF drug culture is significantly less then the general population.

But I will say this, there is a difference between abuse/bastardisation and being yelled at for being a cluster. If you are going to take offense to being called a f**king merkin, dickhead or whatever then I wouldnt bother, because that is what you are going to be called at recruits.

Working in the military is different to working in the civillian world, basically if you f**k up people can die.

Been yelledmat by my brother for doing something stupid while driving so that would not bother me but do they actually use fisticuffs to prove a point?

Pugzley seriously mate you have nothing to worry about. I am not being all Army is tougher blah blah, but you are going for the Navy and from my experiences botht the Navy and Airforce were very mild compared to the Army. When i was a recruit in 1987, there was the occasional touch up dealt out but truly only to the slackers. by the time i discharged in 1998 things changed drastically nowhere near as much yelling or abuse. One of the reasons i left was that it became too soft it wasn't the same as when i joined.

Anyone know what wustions they might ask on the Psych Evaluation?

You cant study for the psych test, if you try and have predetermined answers you may get found out. They run the test through a computer program which puts into a category of what kind of character you are. The program will highlight any significant sway away from what is normal for you.

Answer all the psych questions truthfully, its what it is designed for. There are no right or wrong answers, as long as you can justify your answers with something not too crazy

I'll just say that I'll do whatever I have to do to ensure that me an my comrades return home in one piece. They seem to like that answer on my YOU session.

BMI is 33.9 with the max is >33. So I have to be 85 kilos In 6 months. Hearing is abit gone in one ear but they said I passed. I have to visit an eye specialist. Psych eval was ok I reckon.

Yeah but Arnold Schwarzenegger back when he was competing had a BMI of 32.

Being short isn't particularly helpful when it comes to BMI though.

Six months is a long time, and you're still young. You shouldn't have a problem shedding the weight.

my brother wants a pair of unpierceable army gloves. Can someone tell me how to purchase such item? Where from, preferably somewhere online
