Outside Back options for 2013

With M.Gordon at the club in 2013 we have solved one issue re the back we do have a fullback but we are still needing to readjust the backline.

Taking it Pommeroy is going to be one centre, we have issues with the three remaining spots, held by Best, I.Gordon & Stapelton all 3 of these players are off contract at the end of year, there has been little attention whether they will be retained or not.

In the market place there seems few quality alternatives.

M.Jennings - all has gone quiet on this player certainly a xfactor, but come with a hefty price.
J.Wright - off contract at the dogs has been playing good football lately, has height and speed, might be a worth option on the wing and would not chew the cap too much.

D.Williams - the wolfman looks likely to stay at the eagles and would most probably be out of our reach.

The 3rd option is to we a) retain those already in first grade, b) Punt on the reggies/toyota cup and there dosent seem to be much positve talk there, c) do we try and recruit a fringe player someone like a J.Carney who looked great but struggled at the roosters.

As overall the season has been great so far we just need to ensure we improves the outside backs for next year

I think we wait until a decent winger is available. Not sold on Jonathan Wright and Justin Carney is crap. We could put Mick Gordon there and Best on the other wing. Still leaves no gun FB. Shame we missed Gagai for the centre spot. We may have to keep alternating the likes of Ike and Stapo. This project has a long way to go.

We have Gardz too. He will slot in somewhere.
Its still a big weakness for us that position. If we get Lewis could we see Boogs being groomed as a centre?

There was plenty on the market this year and last year, we just werent quick enough.

Michael Oldfield and Dean Whare would of been 2 very good options.

Kane Linnet is the one that got away from last year.

Yes,Whare has looked good and Oldfield fairly solid and quick. Linnet a bit inconsistent for mine.

Tom Kingston? Pace, balance and consistently beats first tackle. I mean who would want to be in the Waratahs at the moment.

Snare Lewis and put Bukuya in centres.
Gordon 1 wing, the other Wright.

Mills and Gardner back- up.

Stapleton and Williams can move on if they please.
If Gardner asks for a release, keep Stapleton.

Tommy Carter from the Waratahs has stated he wouldn't mind a crack at league! Would go ok i reckon, very solid defender & a hard staight ball runner..Not known for his flashiness tho!

I think it will have occurred to Flanno to try Bakuya in the centres. Bakuya and Pom scare me more than they would the opposition. Your wingers are same old non scorers. The more it drags on the more Jennings seems the option. Seriously fast and a try scorer. Could release Stapo, Matt Wright and Ike for starters.

I would go Gards,Best,Pom,Jennings,Mick Gordon. Speed and points. The more we attack the less emphasis on Gards defence. To challenge for the premiership you need points scorers and speed. All our main rivals have it.

In fact we need Jenings more than Lewis. Gall, Smith, Wade,Bakuya and Toops enough to cover 3 positions. We have no strike outside back currently playing. When Gards plays it is predictable we will try to find him.

Jennings still wants out of Penrith.

I haven't given up on him coming to the Shire.
