Edit: just watched the video. Farrell was stuck under Young. When he shifted his body position, his arm got entangled with Merrin's legs, who was standing looking over his teammate, causing him to stumble. Merrin obviously thought Farrell had deliberately tried to trip him up and reacted by pushing him back (no doubt he would have still been fired up from his earlier clash with Inglis). I doubt Farrell knew Merrin was there. Total accident, which Merrin misinterpreted and overreacted to. Dumb play on Merrin's part. And dumb play on Farrell's part to jump up and go on with it.

I don't think it should be forgotten that as soon all the Souths players came rushing in, Matt Cooper stepped up and stood over Young, pushing them away. Pretty sure Nightingale and Hornby also helped to keep Young safe.

Merrin's dog act (hitting Farrell when he was down, there was a shove then a punch) certainly started the fraccas, however there are a number of players involved after then that should really have thought wiser of starting a brawl.

For mine, the judiciary ought to have given Merrin 2 weeks of Inglis's charge, Luke Burgess and Beau Scott ought have copped a week each. The more I look at the Inglis hit, the more obvious it is that first contact is with the chest and the fact that Young isn't looking exacerbates the injury by the fact that he didn't brace himself for impact......If souths challenge the charge, I think there's more than a good chance Inglis will be playing on Sunday.

It was a disgraceful sight to see blokes brawling over a concussed person. But for Ritchie Blackmore to suggest it's completely the fault of souths players, simply detracts from his argument's credibility. Both teams had representatives at fault....

I don?t believe that I said that I wished Dean Young to die. I did say that if GI had have done the job properly that Dean would have been taken from the field in a hearse. Make of that what you will but I don?t interpret that to mean that I wish death upon Dean.

At the end of the day, though, I?m sure Dean is a Merge Scum fan. This means, and it isn?t myself who decided this, that Dean is a shit human being and a low merkin.
