I was wondering, what would it take for us as supporters to OUST DOUST? I remember something happening at Parramatta where the board was overturned and Dennis Fitzgerald was forced to resign.

I understand a few people might say "look at where that got them" but they made the GF in 09 and then signed a coach who many thought would be great and when it didn't work out they signed Sticky so things are obviously happening over there and sooner or later the tide will turn for the Eels.

We need to rally some old Dragons Legends together and overturn this board who keep renewing Doust's contract as CEO. Lets get rid of this fudge packer once and for all so the club can take on a fresh face and move in a new direction instead of this stale Doust regime.

Carefull, ever since Fitzgerald was tossed out Parra have been even worse.Signing Stuart as coach is knee jerk and as Stuart is overrated as a club coach his impact is yet to be seen.

As much as Doust is not a character I would warm to in person lets remember a few things.

He has constantly acquired funding for both Kogarah and Gong home grounds - massive amounts of funding. These grounds are the key to St. Georges future.

He managed to bring in a coach like Bennet and the support staff that Bennet required resulting in our first premiership in decades without bankrupting the club.

He has built a club with a future, both with good relationships with sponsors and a production line of junior talent and a massive increase in memberships. A club that is no longer at the mercy of the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. All without any great financial backing of either the saints or steelers leagues club.

Remember the poor state of the stadium? Remember being almost taken over by Easts? Remember being forced to merge because of our perilous financial situation? None of those scenarios would happen now.

Doust has done an excellent job and should be respected for it.

(wish he would do something about the leagues club decline though!)

interesting theories... i also have a few comments to add..
"He has constantly acquired funding for both Kogarah and Gong home grounds" .. .well he was pushed into action here, the NRL have strict guidelines on what requirements home grounds must meet in order to be accepted as NRL standard..

"He managed to bring in a coach like Bennet and the support staff" ... well not really, Bennett already had a hand shake deal with the roosters on the proviso that it wasnt leaked to the media... it was leaked and thus Bennett actually approached Doust.. Doust didnt proactively try and recruit Bennett..

"massive increase in memberships" Doust didnt do anything here either the NRL had a massive membership drive for all clubs, and Wendell Sailor actively played a part in this for the Dragons with his "RED V is part of me" campaign..

i am sure he has done a lot of positive things over the years as well, but there is a lot that has also fallen in his lap so to speak, or the club has been pushed into action based on NRL requirments... IMO Doust as a CEO has shown ZERO creativity or vision in comparison with other CEO's like the bulldogs, brisbane etc.. he seems to be stuck in the 80's mentality and we need a visionary leader at the club now especially with things like recruitment and corporate dollars so hard to achieve

Agree he has the best brand in the game but is failing to capitalize on it.

I'm struggling however to think of many other 'genius' CEOs out there. Todd Greenberg always gets thrown up as the model everyone else should base themselves on. But that hasn't been all beer and skittles either. They got the spoon in '08, missed the top 8 in '10 and '11, and have only just re-emerged this year by stealing Hasler from under Manly's nose. And Brisbane, well anyone would succeed there, they have no competition for the corporate dollar. Completely different landscape to the one facing Sydney clubs.

So yeah, we're poorly managed, but I don't think we're in the minority in that regard.

The Doust bashing is ridiculous. If he did not go with Price people would have bagged him for not sticking with Bennett's assistant, Doust goes with Price it's why didn't he get a propper coach. He can't win.

As for signing players, Doust could have gone to the market and brought in players with the expense of the Dragons losing Merrin, King, Creagh, Nighty, BMoz, Rein, etc. Instead of giving hi credit for his great retention skills people bag him about not buying players. Unfortunately with a salary cap you can't do both (unless you are the Dogs of course) but they operate under different rules as we all are finding out this season.

Saints can't buy a player for fear of going over the cap and Dogs have bought close to 20? Do you honestly believe the Dragons are that bad at attracting players? No club comes close to that.

Interesting month ahead Slippery. Explaining two of the clubs worst years in a row based on his judgement call selecting an untried coach will require him speaking in tongues methinks. If he sticks with Price and succeeds it will be seen as genius. If he sticks and Price fails and loses Soward and other opportunities, he may not and frankly, should not recover.

To counter that we do have a massive nursery which the Dogs don't have. They are always on the lookout for players because they don't have the "organic growth" of the scale we apparently possess, as a result of the merger. But that comes at a price, as those "organic" players still demand good coin to be retained.

Get rid, he shows no thinking outside the box, as do most of the management associated with the NRL. Having the best brand and still in the red (apart from 2010). FFS, do something creative to generate more income. Also, some sort of plan for succession, relying on junoirs is just plain lazy, go out and find some players to put us in our rightful position, missing the finals for a great club like ours is just not on, let alone playing the rubbish football i have witnessed this year.

I cannot find the source (the video is no longer on the Dragon's website), but I am 95% certain when Dell interviewed Bennett for the last time at the end of the 2011 season, Wayne said that Doust is the longest serving CEO in the NRL.

Arguments can be made for and against whether he has done a good job, but I'd like to see him move on, simply to get some new thinking and fresh ideas in the joint.

Step aside Doust, you got a Premiership and you can still be a supporter of the club, but let someone else have a go. Don't be so greedy.

I feel that Doust and I are soul brothers when it comes to business and work.

I would sack him on that basis alone.

Yah this.. regardless of his past, sometimes you need to shake things up, get new ideas in there.. of course the replacement CEO could actually be worse.. but thats a risk we need to take.
