A change from the usual best sharks ever team threads in lieu of the M Wright/Covell thread.

Conditions:
-Must be retired.
- Didnt have to be good.
- You have to have seen them play.
- You had to love them.
- You have to miss them.

1. Peach
2. Cov.
3. E.T. I loved how much of a pretty boy he was.
4. Fraser Anderson- I thought he would be something special. Pumped him up every time he got the ball.
5. Rat
6. Speechley: Crim. Scheming 5/8. Classic Tackler.
7. Presto: The greatest tragedy in sharks history.
8. Chris Beattie: Epic battling thug.
9. Pat Gibson: Menace on the drink.
10. Davo
11. Danny Nutley: Weird sort of player who ran on passion alone but was smarter than most pundits realised.
12. Bang Bang: Was dumber than most pundits realised.
13. (uncle) Trent Barrett: I liked him. Classy player. Shame he didnt do better for us.

Neither did I.. I'd love to get my hands on one of those!

Finally got a decent fitting Reebok one earlier this year. Love ebay!

Photo of Treister bleeding in a victorious match is a great photo - is that from one of the 2001 or 2002 semis?

This is the best thread I have seen on here.

I would probably try to squeeze in Brent Grose. Not as talented as a lot of other players but gutsy as hell. He was huge for us in that tragic 2001 semi.

Dykes would be in my 17 as well.

Frenzy.

Cult players huh? Interesting and can easily just turn into a favourites team (which it is a bit)

Players who had cult followings that I have seen are

1. Greg Pierce. The bloke who went on to captain Australia started as a fullback. He had flowing blond locks and a troupe of footy molls a hundred yards long sniffing about after him
2. Cov
3. ET
4. Sludge
5. Ray Corcoran - had his own fan club for years this bloke. Was a fuggen hopeless winger but as fast as a synapse with wicked left and right steps. Would miss a tackle on a tackling bag though. Once scored 4-5 tries in a game after being recalled and dared coach J Raper to drop him after that. He was dropped
6. Roger Millward
7. Tommy Bishop
8. Vince Farrar
9. Dean Triester. Was not a great fave of mine but he certainly enjoyed cult status in his latter years. Mainly for sticking it to Ando.
10. Cliff Watson
11. Nana Kneen
12. Longy
13. Rick Baber - THE BIGGEST cult hero in the history of the club yet he never even played first grade. People went to reserve grade games just to see Rick play. Won't be many here who have even heard of him.

14. Langy
15. Critter. Everyone wanted to be around Critter. So they could see what he was up to probably
16. Jimmy Bryant - another who I don't think saw first grade but had cult status around the club and whole shire.
17. Terry Hughes. He won the first ever Rothman's Medal this bloke. After that he was like the god of halfbacks in the Shire till T Bishop arrived.

I was kid back then and me and my mates always made sure to be there for Second grade or sometimes even thrid grade.

Baber was nuts. Simply nuts. Wasn't that big but he didn't know that. Tried to hit like a fright train. Tried to run like a wrecking ball. Never ever stopped working but most of all tried to stay conscious

Oh and he was good on the bottle as well.
