No. Penrith is Sydney. Campbelltown is Sydney. It's all f**ken Sydney. The state government is cutting services like hospitals and police and other things. Do you really think they'll spend money on overlapping services in multiple stadiums that are just suburbs from each other?

Every game will be played from 3 Sydney stadiums 10 years from now. People will get used to it and we'll all move on.

We are not Melbourne FFS. We do not have centralised stadium, we do not have sufficient transportation to the venues. I can gaurentee if the Panthers were to move to Homebush, you would be lucky to get 5k-10k average. Why? Because it can take 1-1.5 hr by car to get there from a lot of fans locations. Forget about public transport because that is OUT OF THE F**KING QUESTION for Penrith fans where I live.

If I was to catch public transport, it would take 1 hour 53 minutes if I dont miss any of the connecting links (time taken from 131500.com.au)

On the way back it would take the same time and I would not get home to near midnight. Again, that is if I dont miss any links or if there are any delays. I have on countless occasions arrived home well past midnight after a ~9.30 finish from either ANZ or Allianz. Its just not good enough.

Is there any wonder why we get s**t crowds, when it is so bloody hard to get to a game?

But ANZ is in Sydney, The SFS is in Sydney and Penrith is in Sydney. They are all in the same place! how can it be harder to get too?

If the Sydney teams were still located in similar areas to what they were 100+ years ago (Newtown, Redfern, Glebe, Balmain, Sydney Uni, etc) then it's fair enough. However, with teams spanning from the Northern Beaches to the Shire and out to Campbelltown and Penrith the Victorian model just doesn't work. You could throw a blanket over half the suburbs represented in the VFL and the rest are from diffferent states.

It's not just Manly. It's all the teams from outskirt clubs (Manly, Wests, Penrith and the Dragons). I didn't hear any Souffs fans whinging when the government paid for an upgrade to their training ground but as soon as someone mentions an upgrade of a ground actually used for NRL games the toothless rabble start with the "what about the hospitals?" lines.

I am an advocate of all clubs remaining at their spiritual home. But I was simply responding to the article that could force Penrith to move, which I am foremost against. As you asked, IF Manly and Cronulla move then common sense would say they would play at Allianz

Mate, then don't say "I partially agree with the proposal", quote kms, google maps, suggest 3 Sydney grounds and a number of regional grounds.

Well for one I see Manly playing out of 2 stadiums, Bluetounge and the SFS. With less games in Sydney to go to, I expect Manly fans to get to the few games they can when they are in Sydney.

Similar for Penrith, with Parra stadium looking to be the main ground out west, I could see 5-6 games a season played there, with the rest at ANZ.

I agree that the Sydney clubs should all move towards playing in the bigger stadiums but for me that model will only work if “the SFS of the west” is built. There needs to be a 30,000-40,000 rectangle stadium in Western Sydney. Whether that is an upgraded Parramatta stadium or something new it needs to happen and would be a far better investment for the government than continuously giving handouts to the suburban grounds. It wouldn’t lack any tenants, Penrith and Parramatta would play there as well as Western Sydney Wanderers and you would probably get the odd Socceroos and Waratahs game there. Wests would also be a likely candidate to play there.

So under that model you would have the following:

ANZ Stadium – Dogs and Souths
West Sydney – Penrith, Parramatta and possibly Wests
SFS – Roosters, Cronulla, Manly, Dragons (6 games)

Suburban grounds wouldn’t be completely abandoned, They could host 2-3 games a year against out of state teams.
