I am still amused people think travelling 45-60mins to get to a game is a hardship.
I am still amused that you think that is maximum travelling time in Sydney. You do realise that mostly that is also preceded by a 1 hour commute home as well?

it's amusing for sure.

I travel an hour each way for Raiders games and I hear Cowboys fans travel a lot further then that.
Raiders never play on Friday night. Plus there are no parking problems when you are the only one at the venue.

.

I don't think it's max travelling time but how many stadiums are more than one hour from where the majority of a clubs fans live? If you live 3 hours out of Sydney you aren't likely to be going to games, if you live 45-60mins away then I don't consider that much of an effort to go to a game. Here's an idea, leave work at 5, be home for 6 be out and at the game for 7.15, sit back and enjoy a Friday or Monday night game. We are only talking a max of two games a week (occasionally three with the new Thurs slot) in Sydney on a week night. The tV deal certainly hasn't helped fans get to games and a better TV deal with improved KO times for fans would have made centralised stadiums possibly more workable but as i keep saying it will be up to the clubs to decide what financially works best for them. Suburban or centralised clubs decision.

You genius. Go back to the earlier parts of this thread and see the travelling times by public transport. 1 hour :lol:

Perth ... You deserve the pounding you are getting.

I will give you a million dollars if you can go from the city
to the shire at 5 pm on any day.
Then
Get ready and be back sitting in a seat at either the SFS or homebush by 7.15 .

Takes nearly half an hour to get from your car to your seat at Homebush ...

You literally have no idea.

Your timeframe for leavng work at 5 and to the game at 7 leaves pretty much no time for anything other then travelling for most. You better be eating and getting changed on the move...lol, what a f**king joke. You don't know Sydney.

Try even buying a train ticket.

For most people its 45-60 minute packed train ride or bumper to bumper traffic for an hour. Then you would have run in and run out of your house and go and do the same thing again. Throw some kids into the mix and its a f**king nightmare.

You have NFI.

Going to the footy should be enjoyable, not make you wanna blow your head off. You should be able to go and get a bite and a beer of you want beforehand.

You have to be f**king trolling us because no one would continue to expose themselves as being without a f**king clue deliberately.

In my defence I was still correct in what I was saying...just debating the same side of the argument was what f**ked me ...:D

see... even when I am wrong I am right.

Might go get my eyes checked all the same.

geez this place is such a pleasant place to discuss RL!

ok lets have a recap

NRL says 20k avg crowds are the goal but won't force clubs to move if they don't want to
NSW govt says no money to upgrade suburban stadiums

clubs can decide what they want to do but now have kpi's set by the ARLC if they want to access increased grant funding and financially the clubs that have centralised stadium deals are pulling the biggest crowds and making the most money (Roosters aside)

We are really only talking 3 clubs Manly, Cronulla and Penrith. Out of those 3 Manly are probably most effected given the delapidated stae of the ground and the fact that even when succesful on the field they can't draw much of a crowd plus their geographic isolation from the main proposed stadia. The best answer for them may be an upgraded stadium funded by the NRL with an agreement to take appropriate games to CC.

SFS and Parra stadium look to be in line for significant upgrades/spends in the future

Cronulla and Penrith need work but wouldn't take huge sums to get them up to spec in terms fo provided extra protected seating and 20+ capacity

In theory given the very low amount Penrith make from game day they could move to an upgraded Parra stadium if the deal was right, direct 30min train ride?

Majority of games are not played on a weeknight in Sydney meaning that the club fans who get lumped with a Friday and Monday night would struggle most to get to games given the supposed sh*t Sydney infrastructure (thought it was the most liveable city in the world lol?)
If there was a will and NRL/clubs decided it necessary the next TV deal/scheduling could be utilised to minimise the impact for those clubs ie they would get the majority of games on a weekend.

AT THE END OF THE DAY THIS IS JUST A DISCUSSION AND CLUBS WILL DECIDE! Stop being so fu**ing arsey people, we all love RL and are just killing time till season kO!

I am still amused people think travelling 45-60mins to get to a game is a hardship.

even on a sunday arvo it would take well over an hour to get to Kogarah. Do I consider it a hardship? No ... but it is not easy either.

But try a hour and half commute from the airport back home pick up the wife and kids then travel over an hour to Kogarah in time for a friday night match and tell me it's not a hardship. Don't even think of adding yet another hour to the journey by playing it at the friggen SFS.

The people of Sydney need a ground south of the western (M4) corridor ... and Kogarah is that ground.

Stop making idiotic presumptions about something you clearly have NFI about(Travelling around Sydney) and people will leave you alone.

Just because we are footy fans doesn't mean we are wiliing to make our lives revolve around footy, some do no doubt but not everyone.

When it comes down going to a footy game after work on a Friday or having Dinner with your kids/wife/girlfriend or whoever, A lot of people will skip the overpriced footy and the horrible commute and watch it at home.

Especially if you have already spent 8+ hours commuting to and from work that week.
