Exactly. They could sell a SFS NRL pass entitling a GA entry to any regular season NRL game making it easier for a footy tradgic to turn up and watch any game.

tops..

Honey get the kids ready. Penrith v titans at homebush tonight
I am leaving work now ( 5.30pm in town) I will be home in about 2 hours .
We should make it back in time for the half time entertainment.
Dont forget to pack the kiddies jarmies for the trip home.

Has there been any announcement about free public transport with every ticket for the NSW clubs? I really think it needs to be a priority for the NRL to sort this out with Venues NSW or whatever. It'll make it more palatable for other fans and casuals to turn up to games at the SFS and SA.

This is the exact kind of situation that the NRL could assist with if it's at a central stadium. Discount tickets for members of other clubs, schoolkids getting in free, etc.

How do these kids get to the game? I am talking the people in here from Cronulla, Kogarah, Ctown, Penrith etc does anyone get home in time to go with their kids the hour or so to the bigger grounds?

We have Thurs, Fri and Monday night games now. They are hard to get to even now. We don't want to make it harder

Go out and have a couple beers, grab a feed, then head out to the ground. The missus already had the $hits with you anyway, and the kids have been a pain in the arse all week, so you deserve some time away from them. Job done. :D

All depends on the fan. I'll often turn up to non-eels games if my mates are going.

I'm not saying that its a perfect situation, but I don't think we should be accepting below average crowds without trying to do something.

Another thing to consider is that if the SFS hosted say 4 teams and they allowed reciprocal members to attend (ANZ does I believe), then a season ticket could potentially include an extra 3 games per season (if you play those teams home and away).

Some of you need to fly into sydney on a weekday hire a car get stuck into
the awesome roads we have.
Maybe a leisurely drive up to Narrabeen or down to Sutherland .

Peak hour is the best time for such a trip.

Oh good qn.

More to the point how may have they had that they have accurately posted.

The question needs to be asked why they have had sub 10k crowds. Roosters have 10k members, SCG trust has the same. There should be no games with crowds under 10k. There was 4 off the top of my head last season

I agree we shouldnt accept below avg crowds without doing something.

But let the clubs do something in their own backyard. Giving free tickets to local schools in Shark / Panther/ Sea Eagle territory is better than dropping 100 free tickets into redfern primary school for a sharks v titans clash at sfs.

That's fine for 1 week but before the season's out the missus has kicked you too the kerb.

I will use Penrith as an example. We had the blackhole directly opposite the tunnel. For the same price as the hill entry. Membership only yet not once was it full most times not even half full. It's seats that people want yet. I saw plenty of people with blackhole memberships sitting on the hill.
People don't go to the grounds now even with good seats yet we move them 40mins up the road it's crazy

Not to mention how many freebies, but I can't put a number on that.

From what I can see, the SFS had 8 games with les than 10,000 in the past 3 years, but importantly the crowd at the SFS for H&A games was on average 37% higher than down at Shark Park.

Means absolutley nothing unless those games involved Cronulla.

Also the average would have been raised given the SFS hosted finals and the ANZAC day match. The 6 finals played there in the last 3 years averaged over 24,000 and the ANZAC day match averaged over 37,000.

Why not give tickets to both? The NRL isn't going to be skint if they want to increase the crowd average to 20K.

I really don't understand the need to make up more and more unreasonable hypothetical situations just to support a point.

mate...people have explained to you and a few others the problem for e.g sharks fans getting into the SFS on a weeknight from the shire.

That is the biggest problem.

Do you not understand this?

It's not ideal that people leave their Season Ticket seats free (either by not turning up, or in the example you mentioned, sitting on the hill), but at least they've paid their hard earned and bought a ST so the club is benefiting. But they have in all likelihood bought the best seats, which are probably undercover, so they aren't available to the public. So on a week where it looks like raining on game day, a non-member going to a smaller local ground has to decide whether to go to the game knowing there isn't likely to be a covered seat, or stay home. Maybe that decision would be different if the team played in a bigger stadium with more covered seats.

But as I said a couple of times, this shouldn't be a one size fits all solution. Not every game should be at a big stadium, just like every game shouldn't be played at a suburban ground.

Ok i wont make up hypotheticals (which in reality are actual likely scenarios), lets just take the games there and then after its a disaster lets just say "oh yeah maybe we were wrong".

ON the free ticket thing, does anybody else see the irony of giving free tickets to increase crwod averages?

Im not sayin what you did was not asked all im saying is the 37% variance is not a useful comparison.

All avg crowd comparisoons of SFS v Toyota need to have the same variables. Sharks V Cows at Toyota and at SFS. No point comparing Roosters home crowds to sharks home crowds to see if the move is worth it.

You mean worse case scenarios, for the worst drawing games? It could well be a possibility, just like a bumper crowd could be a possibility for a good drawing game. But if you don't give it a go (and be selective, not just move lock, stock and barrel) and see how it goes you'll never know.

And yes, I'm not a big fan of the ticket give away either.

We are talking about ~12 games a year, the vast majority of which for the next decade+ will likely remain at Shark Park.

Making the effort to go to one or two big games at the SFS per year when you have had several months notice on the exact times and dates is imo not that big of an ask if you're a fan of the club or the game in general.
