End nears for suburban NRL grounds

You could increase the capacity to 30k and I don’t think you would see much of an increase. The reason being the sharks pretty much maximise their attendances as it is IMO. Dragons fans aside, shark park is not convenient for anyone else and no one wants to travel to the shire to watch a game. Of course in years of success the average might be higher but as a competition we can’t have success as part of the strategy to increase crowds as there will always be clubs that struggle.[/QUOTE]

I rest my case.

No point moving the sharks then?

How many week night games are played in Sydney? Depending on what happens with the Thursday experiment it will likely be two at most, between 10 teams that could be spaced out so in reality any centralised plan meant around 2 week night games a season out of 12. So all this I can't get home for work excuse would only possibly occur twice a season? They could move one of those interstate if they wanted and reduce the occurrence even more.

There are 8 weeknight matches in Sydney in the first5 rounds!

Any centralised stadium model would also need a scheduling rethink to minimise the impact on fans. It can be done if there is a will from both clubs and the NRL. Free transport, friday night sydney game of the round at sfs with free entry for both teams members and $10 entry for everyone else, decent schedule that minimises Monday night games for centralised teams, expansion to help cover the unwanted time slots by teams in other time zones etc can all be part of the master plan. More realistic than finding $300 mill to upgrade Brookie, shark park and Penrith to decent standards.
Brain dead. Its the issue of GETTING THERE that is most of the problem, especially with kids. In Sydney, kids usually do Saturday morning sport.

Penrith to SFS...........and at 9.30 SFS to Penrith.............You have no f*cking idea

But if your team has no fans it will be cut from the competition.
Then all it needs is one fan and it will be cheese?

The problem with all the Sydney teams playing out of one or two central stadiums is you take away the need to have so many Sydney teams. if Manly, Cronulla and Penrith play away from there areas then what is the point of them?

It seems from these boards (and correct me if i'm wrong because i have never been) but people from these regions don't like to (or find it hard to) travel out of these areas. So if Manly play out of the SFS then the fans may as well support the Roosters and the Sea Eagles can move to the central coast/perth/wherever. Same for the sharks.

Its the same argument against ground sharing over here. Its the first step in a merge or a removal of a team.

Sharks V Penrith at SFS, what a crowd puller that would be lmfao.

Seriously, this whole argument / idea by the commission is brain dead!

You cannot have a billion dollar TV Deal and the crowds at the game. Want the cake and eat it too! f**king douche bags.

If its hardly on tele, people will go to games, if they part with dollars for pay TV they won't do both, well not as often. Wake up Perth Red, would you pay a shit load for pay TV then pack up the kids, fight the crappy Sydney traffic, pay for parking or trains etc, spend money on crap cold food and shitty beer etc, have your kids listen to brain dead merkins at the footy ruining you day, battle the traffic or get a bus to the train station, then train it home and walk from the station?

I say, f**k that, get f**ked. I won't go. I'd rather watch it on tele, have a few cold beers, laugh at Skeepe going ape shit about the ref then Shag the missus. Sound a little less stressful and worth the TV subscription that pays for the f**king game anyway.

Thank you, my rant over!

Fair enough, me I'd rather jump on public transport, meet my mates at the pub for a couple, enjoy the atmosphere at the game, calling the ref a merkin or other choice words, having a bit of banter with some opposition fans, a couple of beers after the game whilst we do a post mortem on where it all went wrong and roll home content with a good night cheering my team on and catching up with mates, then shag the missus. Hopefully there's twenty thousand others out there that feel more like me and less like you!

Take ya kids with ya and see how all that ends up. By the way, do it in Sydney.

You have NFI. You pick out one demographic. You know many of us who are members of our clubs have families and commitments. We enjoy the odd day you just described, however in Sydney in particular you can't afford to pay your house, pay your bills, be a member of your club, pay your TV subscription and go to every farkin game. It may be okay when you are single and all you have in life are your mates, because your a brain dead farkwit that can only hang with other brain dead farkwits, but most of us have a life, unlike you.

Haha, yeh I'm typing this from The Langham in London, I have no life? lol.
Equally not every RL fan has kids and no money. You can't cater for everyone all the time. As long as there is a mix of day and night games, family friendly venues and game experience then people will make the effort, not lazy twats like you who would rather sit on their settee leading your sad suburban life. We are only talking 11-12 times a year ffs. Anyway each to their own, if you can't be arsed to go to games because it takes a bit of effort then enjoy the comfort of your living room. Maybe if you don't have a team and the choice to go and watch them you would appreciate the opportunity more, you don't know what you've got till you lose it!

Booked a train, told a few mates i was heading up. They couldnt get on a train for under £50 so 10 of us are on a £8 4.5 bus ride compared to 2 hours 10 on the train. In hindsight i should have just met them there because this is f**ked.

But back on topic, if saints in 5 years were selling out most games id be happy to go to a 4-4-4 at sfs (f**k anz) but any more than that id probably boycott games in protest.

You are you moron!!!!! Friday night games at the SFS - you plan has to mean home games are moved to the SFS - and Penrith do often host home games.

BTW your missus must be ugly if you'd rather be yelling at a ref.

London in winter - missus has your wallet - you are drinking jasmine f*cking tea in some arty room in a freezing city renowned for its drabness

Hence the original comment - GET A LIFE!
