If Price "fails" (and that's a big if), does Rick Stone have any special ties to Newcastle that would make him want to stay another two years under The Telegraph Pole?

He's got first grade experience, also did two years under The Pole, he may be itching to get back into first grade.

exactly..
Price is the second attempt of bringing in a coach with zero first grade coaching experience.
Brown was a failure, Price yet to aim up..
so someone suggests another coach with zero first grade experience as the solution...
it really doesnt need any case made against it...
Why was Brown a failure. We only just failed to get to the GF in 05 & 06,albeit with a top team ,we should have won it in 05 but in 06 a hot Melb side beat us.I always said however i wanted Browny to go away for 5 years then come back and coach us.
I rate Browny a far better coach than Price.

The dude made a case for Barrett.

Rather than just put shit on it, like a androtop heckler in the dark, make your case against it.
The world could do with more androtop hecklers. I for one am against smoking.

And I believe a case was made against it.

A hot illegal Melb side at that.

Guys I really don't think rick stone is the right man. He just doesn't come across as the type of personality we need. The authority figure, the mentor. That's is purely and simply the reason I want sheens. I believe he is the only available coach with the sort of aura our players need. I don't care if hs a prick... I think he'll have more of a positive impact in our younger players. Barrett certainly wont have that. Can we move away for the young coach suggestions...?

you answered your own question really..
we had the side to win at least 1, maybe 2 comps during the period Brown coached us, to come away with nothing in his 6 seasons to me and many others is considered a failure.

Sheens is not a prick, quite the opposite.I mentioned a while ago here that i was leaving the SFS a few years ago after a Tigers game and saw Sheens in the carpark waiting for the NRMA .He was happy to have a few words about the game even though he would have had the sh*ts with his car.
I could see why the Tigers players over the years had great spirit in the squad.Mark O'Neill told me in 05 that the squad was so tightnit,he had every players number in his phone and praised Sheens also.

Fair enough, though we had that horror injury period in 03 where we blooded so many youngsters who went on to serve the club proud.I also questioned Browny when we were 24-0 down at Penrith in the finals in 04 i think it was, what the hell did he say to the players, but that game typified us then.
Sleeping in stages of a game, then ripping teams apart at other stages.

All true enough, but of the coaches with that type of experience I wouldnt want near my club. Sheens? No. Smith? Only on a two year deal to prevent the hangover, but still computer says no. Kearney? Hell and f**k no.

The only coach I would take a mini punt on is Rick Stone. IMO Newcastle played a hell of alot better under him in 2011 than they did under a better coach in 2012.

Two guys with moderate experience and worth a punt on in my mind are rick Stone and Jim Dymock.

Melbourne Storm were our achilles heel and we all know how fair they played in those mid to late 2000's period don't we:x. Without the Melbourne Storm I have no doubt we would have at least jagged one or reached the GF under Brown.

Very true this, we will never know what could have happened if it wasn't for those cheats.

that last lines sums up the dragons under brown.. in 6 seasons he couldnt get any consistency in the way they played, and yet it took Bennett less than 10 matches to get the consistency we all knew could be achieved.. not to mention a brick wall defence..
winning is not eveything to measure a team by - but we also played bad football under brown..not to mention the poor discipline... which has crept back in under Price..

Fair point... I don't necessarily think he's a prick but I know some people do.
I'd have him at saints in a heart beat.

But we were in games up to our ears under Browny. Footy was exciting to watch, albeit sometimes heart breaking as well.

Last seasons effort by our team simply was not us. Our best pedestrian, our worst diabolical. How Price could have achieved so little, so fast, was beyond belief. And yet press conference after press conference, he would utter how it was a work in progress, and yes it was just not quite what we all expected. His press conference statements bordered on nonsensical and his credibility therefore, farcical.

So it is a new year and what has changed? Opinion and predictions greatly appreciated. For mine I think it will be business as usual.

But it wasn't just last year, it was from the middle of the previous year, from leading the comp to also rans in a matter of weeks! Under sir Wayne!

Just saying, I am not prepared to point all figures at Price just on last years effort!
