I'd have him at saints in a heart beat.

Given the state of me old ticker, heartbeats are not something to be wagered especially on a disinterested has been like Sheens. His main problem was his comfort zone. Long contract = no stress = either take what is on offer or eat crow. The fact that he was turfed was more of a blow to his ego, rather than the reasons for it. I see a substantially improved Tigers outfit under Mick Potter. He has the hunger to succeed.

But it wasn't just last year, it was from the middle of the previous year, from leading the comp to also rans in a matter of weeks! Under sir Wayne!

Just saying, I am not prepared to point all figures at Price just on last years effort!

Johnny go have another look at the footage of the 2011 finals game against the Broncos. Although loosing in golden point, we came from behind to level the scores. Had Gaz's poor pass to nighty stuck, we would have won. And based on what I saw in that game, had we of done so we would have really given Melbourne one hell of a game the following week. That in my view was the last really thrilling Dragons game I have watched. Last year we merely went through the motions and after Newcastle round 1 it was all down hill.

Manly and Tigers at Kogarah was good. Sharks in the Gong. Nz and Parra to finish off. Melbourne in the Gong of course.

The team played like champions for the first half of the season, so it was not a squad without talant. The team fell apart because of several reasons:

Bennett announced is move to Newcastle.
Gasnier resigned.
About 7 of our squad were involved in SOO.

Knowing he was leaving, maybe Bennett handed over the team to Price and Price did have a big say in all the recruiting for 2012. I am sure you remember the team did play extra well in their semi-final loss to the Broncos.

So in my opinion they had what it took to do well, it was an attitude problem.

Did I read correctly that a poster advocated having Barrett as the coach?

You did.

I'm truly shocked to see the level of discontent within this thread for the idea. I genuinely believe it would be an improvement on Price.

Let's not forget, Barrett was on the short list to coach NSW just last season. He is a young coach, who could easily become a career coach with a bit of early success. He is respected, and would easily lure more players than Price ever will. He also has unfinished business at the club.

Above all else, he is a leader who can inspire and rally his troops.
Price isn't.

I still believe the best coach available for 2014 and beyond, is Daniel Anderson. Currently the referees boss and probably get him on half the price of Bellamy. He has got 2 ordinary NRL teams to the GF and has won titles in the UK Super league. He is a great communicator and well respected and would be a great head coach to develop the young talent coming through.

How could he coach?

He'd be missing 3 weeks every month with injury.

Barrett was once my favourite Dragons player however, I have to say he is not what we need as head coach of the Dragons.

I WOULD PREFER PRICE OVER BARRETT AS COACH ANY DAY.

And know my thoughts on Price, that's saying something.
Barrett would do a Brad Fittler or Jason Taylor as an NRL coach and we just don't need that rubbish right now.

Barrett may turn into a decent coach one day but I don't rate him right now. Having said this, I don't rate Daley as a coach either. Barrett and Daley have never been an NRl Head Coach.

pffft...Barrett = heart the size of a pea.

This is the same guy who chose to go back to Cronulla instead of Saints because the Saints fans were "too demanding"

It is ridiculous to consider Barrett as a nrl coach for starters soo coach has up to a year prep for three games and able to pick the best from nsw an nrl coach 4 months to prep a squad of players that fits a salary cap then has 26 rounds to try to make the finals huge difference. I liked Barrett when he played for us but geez some of the play's he put on left me scratching my head.

if you could just list a couple of examples where his leadership helped Saints or the Blues to a title, I'd be happy to recall it.

He didn't win us a title but let's not forget he was the heart and soul of the club for a long time there, he was a great player in his prime. As for NSW he was very good, he was no Darren Lockyer but still a great player.

I don't think the captaincy ever sat well with him so coaching maybe a bit beyond the pail as well.

That's one hell of a big maybe, I can't believe Bennett did that!

You can have an opinion, and most of yours are spot on, but base them on facts, not maybes...
