Is the 'C' word becoming socially accepted?

I use it quite a bit when I'm home, but have to dial it back in Asia and the US. They aren't ready for it.

Something about the Aussie accent makes it less vulgar somehow. An American saying merkin really is jarring.

Since joining LU does anyone actually use the word Merkin in real life as a substitute for the c bomb. I know I do, and using merkin is funnier.

I don't see the problem with any so called curse words tbh...they're just words. I cam cause more offence without using them if I try

I have heard it in a few movies! Saw 3 the most recent place where I heard it in a main stream movie

Context is key like everything else hah! A lot of people at the train station like to use merkin a lot baha

LU has done the world a great service by using merkin as a replacement word. Such a brilliant and amusing word. It's especially fun when the person you're directing it toward doesn't realise you're saying "see you next Tuesday".

Loved when Mena Suvari used it in American Beauty .. She's high on my list though so understandable.

I don't use it. I use the other swear words sparingly and usually only in situations where something bad happens. I'm an instinctive swearer.

One thing I absolutely detest though is the little teenage gangsta wannabes on buses and trains that use the 'C' word in every second or third sentence. Any time I hear it I wish I had a bar of soap so I could turn around, grab the little punk in a headlock and start scrubbing his mouth out with the soap. I hate kids that deliberately use the 'C' word all the time on the belief that it makes them more tough and menacing.

I think it's because Australians put a greater emphasis on the 'arr' eg. carrrrnt. American seem to put more emphasis on the C. Sounds more brutal.

Nike hat, sports shorts, Adidas collared shirt, arms wide apart, a little bouncing strut, no teeth.

I find the 'N' word far more offensive. It actually shocks me.
