i predict now that the WCC will be one of the ugliest, biff ravaged, games in living memory...

melbourne are going to target sinfield...and the leeds players will have his back....light the touch paper and stand back

Even money, Leeds maybe a little ahead; and I won't be upset if there is a little biff involved.

We looked ok. I was impressed with the speed we played at but there is a hell of a lot to work on. Their try for instance was soft. In reality they shouldnt have crossed the way we defended for the rest of the night. Also there was a fair few times the ball should have gone an extra man but the carrier kept hold. I think we probably blew 2 or 3 tries by that. Early on we looked disjointed too but I put that down to rust. If I had to rate the performance out of 10 i'd probably give it 6.5/7. It is week one though and not many teams will be able to hit the defensive standard we showed last night this soon. You also have to look at how close it is to the WCC. We could be trying to go all out early on but then, mid season, might blow out and suffer for a while. It has been known to happen before.

Only Round 1. But they showed great qualities, especially in defence. Firstly with their line speed, and secondly with their scramble near their line. He pressure they imparted enabled them to run away with the game in the end.

I went for the Storm in the grand final, but I hope Leeds absolutely smash them in the WCC. Should be a great game.

I think Leeds were ok but Hull very poor, The Huddersfield Giants were far more impressive than the Rhinos.

The Giants played the complete all round game and in Brett Ferres have the most under rated player in SL.

Yes, it's bad but it's got nothing on England.

I disagree though, Melbourne won't target Sinfield because he won the Golden Boot. That's all media drummed up shit.

Winters not normally too bad at all here. It just seems the WCC falls on our bad Wearher days

The night we played Melbourne at Elland Rd in 08 (I think) was one of the worst days I remember. On the way back from the game the rain was coming down so hard we had to stop and pull over because you couldn't see out of the window. Iv not seen anything like that since though.

We do get a lot of Sunny, mildish (5-10c) days though. I know night games in Melb are very similar.

the point is harrigan....auckland,canberra & melbourne gets horrible and freezing weather during may,june,july....and its more likely to be pissing down with rain in sydney than it is here for a SL game...melbourne played brisbane last may/june and the wind chill temp was down near 3-4c according the the commentators

so for them to wheel out the same old "weather argument" is bollocks cos they play in terrible weather more than we do...most of our season is played in goldilocks weather....not too hot & not too cold..it should be us complaining about the weather

It's a typical way to completely externalise failure. If the NRL team wins, hoorah. If the SL team wins, it's because of the weather or because it's just a trial. I read an article on footy social correlating better attitude in the WCC and later success in the NRL season. Interesting read. If only the Australian majority would embrace it. Lets face it. It means more than a nines comp, "international origin" or the allstars match.

  the WCC means more than state of origin that would have to be the most stupid comment I seen on this forum. City vs Country is more important than the WCC.
But I will admit this game is more important than a test match against England because in this match the nrl side is usually filled with rookies and fringe graders so there is actually a chance the SL team might win.

I'd much prefer to watch a 9s comp or the Allstars than this match. This match doesn't even get hyped up or any media attention. Only the day before the match there will be a little 5 or6 line article about it in the paper

That's my point you plum. It should be hyped, as it's wrongly dismissed as a nothing fixture, which effectively ensures Australians never "lose".

Accusations of stupidity stick better when you don't display ignorance and the lack of ability to read mate
