(aka St Merge's Grand Final).

oh please.. we haven't tried to offload the chokers tag to you guys, so stop trying to get rid of the 'grand final' tag for the CS..

you guys know it's your biggest game of the year..

case in point:

that being said, i love the CS.. great game that signifies the start of the season for me each year..

and unfortunately i know that if we win i'll cop "it's only a trial" from you mob.. and if we lose i'll cop "hah, you guys are shit and can't even win a trial game"

but each year for me i don't care if we win or lose this match, i just like to see footy again, see how our new buys go, and see the boys running round again..

good luck for friday goobers.

Yes like Muzby this is a game that I look forward to each year as it gives me the first look at a Souths side and provides a good assessment of how they are progressing. The result means little to me as well but more that Souths play well.

Dead set nothing game and I shudder my way through every tackle. Every time it rolls around I think back to the year that Gasnier had a serious injury which ruled him out for the best part of a season and wonder why we bother. Ok, it gets the seaon started and it signifies that the footy is almost here but thats about the only bright spot for mine.

Hopefully Madge is of a similar opinion to me and our trumps only play a few minutes before we bring on the depth to play the bulk of the game.

These sorts of games are the perfect opportunity for some nuffy reserve grader to make a serious name for themselves by wiping out the season of a representative player from another team and thats about it.

True and we have plenty of those. How many minutes will your superstars be playing for?

Ah but then again, we are St George the greatest Rugby League Club in the world. The gentleness of our tackles are well known. We even enquire as to our opponents well being post tackle. Just paint a nice red and green bull's eye on Inglis's head!!

Two points Old Timer: St George ceased to exist in late 1998 and technically the greatest Rugby League club in the world will be decided this weekend in Leeds.

STAR recruit Ben Te'o has been named to make his Rabbitohs debut in the Charity Shield after missing last week's trial for disciplinary reasons.

Te'o was dumped for last Saturday's clash against Newcastle, instead playing reserve grade for Norths following an incident at a Parramatta nightclub.

But Te'o gets a shot at redemption this week after being named in the starting back row for the traditional clash against St George Illawarra on Friday night at ANZ Stadium.

Following the injury to Luke Burgess (shoulder, six months), brother Sam will push up from the back row to prop, while other sibling George has been named on an extended bench.

Beau Champion has pipped recruit Bryson Goodwin to a starting centre spot, with Goodwin to play from the bench.

Meanwhile, the Dragons welcome back prop Michael Weyman, who will play his first game since a season ending ACL injury last year.

Daniel Vidot has again been named in the No. 3 jersey as he eyes a permanent switch to the centres, while former prop Trent Merrin will play lock.

Nathan Fien will again play halfback as he pushes to fill the void left by Ben Hornby's retirement, with youngster Josh Drinkwater on the bench.
