israel falou could'nt tackle for sh*t....his goal line defence was shocking......

billy slater can't tackle....often so late he has to slide in with his feet....even sam burgess side stepped hin at elland rd in the 2009 four nations final....

so why are they selected? cos they are there to score tries...not to tackle constantly...

Here is a name to put in the black book, Ryan Hampshire.

He is only 18 and hasn't made his SL debut yet but the kid is good, very good.
I wouldn't be surprised if he gets picked in the Wigan squad for the Cup clash v Leigh Centurions.

Chris Annakin at Wakefield has been an absolute revelation this season, he hits the line and tackles at 100mph every time he plays. He's only going to get better and Wakefield will be lucky to hold on to him.

Watkins cannot defend for toffee.
Myler still has to nail on the ability to control a game from the halves.
Hardaker is a long way from Tomkins and needs to develop his full back game to get close.
Hall and Briscoe are the first choice wingers.

They are all still young and learning. In a few seasons they may be dominant in there positions. I don't think you can move them from the Promising young players list just yet.

Of the four, Charnley and Myler are the closest to doing this IMO.

Myler isn't the best half back at his club, so unless a wire fan becomes England coach in the next few years, I can't see him making an impact on the international scene. He's been decidedly average in the majority of games i've seen. Poor man's Danny Mags. If you are going to push wire players for honours I'd back ratchford over Myler, personally. O'brien looks like he has potential too.

George Burgess is having a great run at the moment - one would think he'll get a look if he stays injury free. Greg Alexander said last week he'd be a shoe in for "great britain". Quality Aussie punditry on the international game eh

Well of course he isn't the best half back at the club. That is why this is the 'Promising Young Players' thread. The best half at the club is Welsh so unless you are going all Greg Alexander on us then it doesn't actually matter though.

Interesting that you have decided O'Brien has more potential despite him only playing a few games and you would put our future full back in the halves in front of our first choice half.

I was just humouring you actually. Can't see any of those players making an impact ;-).

That is alright, you think Danny Mags is a decent half so you thinking that is fine by me... ;-)

Myler should be on the train on squad actually - Put him with McGuire - get him to learn from him. If he can score 200+ tries in a decade of team dominance, like McGuire, one would assume he could represent England.

But i doubt it...

Are we talking about Myler becoming the best half back at the club or someone who can get on the end of a few moves to score tries?

If it is the latter then he can do that as well as McGuire already and is looking to move to the next level so can learn nothing from him.

If we are actually talking about controlling a game then he would be better talking to Sinfield. Given he has carried Leeds for all these years he would surely learn more of him?

To be honest though, i'm sure he will learn more than enough from Briers and on occasion Johns though...

Look out for Adam Lawton, a 6 foot 7inch second row with hands like a stand off, made his debut for Widnes last week v Cas, he's only 20 yrs old, when he puts his weight back on he lost he is goin to be something special. Could play on fri v Wakefield live on sky if hock,Cahill and Allen don't return.

Schoey's been there, done that and got several T shirts.

No Sh!t. Believe it or not, it wasn't a serious proposal.

Were any of Hock, Mossop or Cooper on contracts beyond this year? Is the lure of Australia greater than the honour of a contract like previous Australian and Kiwis returning early? (Eastwood, Buderus, Orford etc)
