Should be a few hundred either side of 20,000. 17-18k will be disappointing but will still look great on TV.

Just watching a replay of a-league gf. Never noticed the huge gaps in the scgt members area. Yet at Roosters dragons the members was at capacity pretty much. Very strange but maybe corporates make the difference at allianz?

Yeah and the A-League was fully reserved seating - easier to fill all the other bays to 100%.

Yep, noticed that too.
Bigger gaps there than yesterday at the Anzac day match, yet the crowd was bigger at the A-League GF.
You'll find that a lot of Wanderers fans moved to the northern RBB end considering there was no adherence to seated tickets there and everyone was standing, yet it's clear none of them came from the top deck of the western stand/members area.
When I saw yesterday's pictures during the game, I surely thought that the att. would be higher than the A-L GF.
It's quite strange. Capacity is claimed to be 45500 yet I've no idea where the extra thousands could fit in.

That article states the CvC match was an all time low. Can this be verified, or is it more news ltd. throwaway bullshit?

Imagine if we set new records for crowds by the end of the season.

There will be a telegraph article about it which will be prefaced with three paragraphs referring the CvC.

"But but but CvC was a debacle".

In 1986 we averaged over 20 000.
Did you?

Na, we were only the second best supported side in the comp that year...

Bringing up a 30 year old crowd means nothing. It's about as pointless as me mentioning that up until the SL war Manly were consistently up amongst the best supported clubs in the comp for near on 30 years...

I'd keep the mid season int weekend, adds much greater focus to the international scene and gives a bit of a rest from the grind of club football. The test matches featuring the island nations could count towards the pacific cup which can be completed in oct/nov with the rest of the games in the island nations.

If we want to treat international rugby league seriously then fund it as a proper comp that's played uninterrupted at the end of the year rather than cramming it and breaking it up into the NRL season.

Doc, where in southern Queensland would you host a game?

Split the state into two zones (effectively split Central Queensland effectively) and have multiple locations in each that can support a 10-15k crowd (the NRL should subsidize the seating costs) and then rotate it so they get a match every 4-5 years (so they're not overkilled). These are the smaller areas. Bigger areas like Cairns, Sunshine Coast etc we should be looking at playing at NRL games there every year.

I don't agree with playing all those games in one round. I think they should be spread over the season so there are multiple opportunities to blow the country game trumpet. As well I think we really need to ensure that area's like Sydney have a game in town every weekend.

It's a marketing tool so that the 6 games (Southern NSW, Western NSW, Northern NSW, Southern QLD, Northern QLD, NZ outside Auckland & Wellington) can be marketed collectively.

Obviously there can (& should be) other games in places outside of that round. By split them up into those 6 zones you can ensure that you don't have to two country games that are too close to each other.

For me it should be a 26 week season with 2 byes as it is now and no representative weekend. I like your idea of a country round where all the games are played in country areas throughout NSW, QLD, VIC and NZ (another city in NZ would suffice).

The ANZAC test has become redundant IMO and the results have nothing to do with it. It is played a week before ANZAC day for starters and the Dragons/Roosters game is far and away the highlight of the ANZAC period. Additionally we have full international schedules at the end of the season which is exactly where they should be played.

I'd drop the notion of trying to cram any kind of meaningful worldwide international tournaments during that one weekend but I'd keep the Anzac Test. It's only going to get bigger. I'd save the Pacific Cup for the end of the year when it can be played properly over 5-6 weeks.

Looks to be a full house at Brookie.

Have we ever had the first three games to a round as full houses?

Whatever they announce the crowd as tonight is the capacity. No way the capacity is 23,000 like they say.

Just making a point about a previous post that people won't travel over a certain bridge.
We all know who those people are.
