To be promised $xxxx and then to not get it must have been infuriating. He had to leave on principle but refused to play against the Dragons.

I agree, I don't hold anything against Gaz for what happened - I read his book earlier this year (which obviously has a bit of bias involved) but it seemed to me that he was very honest and upfront with his teammates, coaches and the club. And you're right, he refused to play a game against the Dragons...

I'm with you Fiery. But you know that already because I've been on about replacing Price since mid last year. Nothing that has happened since then has caused me to change my opinion.

For Price supporters; just imagine how well our team could perform with a good coach! I'm sure we would be in the top eight right now.

And I would add there is still no sign your predictions in regard to supercoach:shock: Price will be contradicted by current or future developments.

It wasn't until he stuck with Fien after the Penrith debacle that I finally realized with any kind of certainty he is a complete ####### (not sure about forum rules for swearing) and the Dragons are going nowhere but to the bottom of the table with him in charge. He seems more interested in pleasing Bennett than doing well with the Dragons. After all, Bennett signed Fien to a 3 year deal shortly before announcing he was leaving, picked Fien for the All Stars game and then tried to take King, not Fien to Newcastle. So supercoach:shock: has Fien on the bench and King in the Cutters for most of the year. What a #######!!

You think he would be worse than super coach:shock: for the remainder of the season? Ivan Henjak, Rick Stone and Steve Gorgarlis are 3 more. I posed the question if anyone really believes super coach:shock: Price is working out for the Dragons and no one replied "yes" so why not get Brian Smith in as a caretaker for the remainder of the season while they search for a long term solution?

Ivan Henjak, Rick Stone and Steve Gorgarlis(sic)

It is quite apparent to a lot of people on this forum that you did not watch the same game. Fien had a good game last night & this was backed up by the 2GB Continues Call Team which definitely has a lot more knowledge than you. So stop blood whinging. As I have said the playmaker is coming but no doubt you will put blinkers & still whinge
Fien was my man of the match. What a gutsy player, much maligned at halfback, but was terrific on sat.

Careful. That sort of talk can get you into trouble around here. lol.

I don't think Fien is a half back by any stretch, but credit given where credit is due. He definitely had a good game, only a few blemishes but he was very involved and stepped up to the challenge.

We can knock the players and coach when they are crap, but I think we can also give them a wrap when they get it together.

I don't quite understand Fiery's post. No offence, but there seems to be a few contradictions in there. Didn't look like scoring? We had two tries disallowed, and missed out narrowly on at least one other occasion.

Newcastle were ordinary, I agree. Their handling in particular. Although they did have some go forward in their kit. But at the end of the day you can only play what's in front of you. Would much rather be a Saints
Not a great win, but a solid come from behind win.
I have the utmost respect for Bennett, but this is a club who have so much expectations and are terribly inconsistent.Noone is questioning why the Knights are like this. They don't even look close to a premiership.
On the other hand we are a centre, half and a mongrel prop away from being a step above where we are at the moment for next season.

Last year we had halves of Hornby and Soward, and a hooker rotation of Rein and Fien. Where were you going to slot King in when he was injured for a fair part of last season anyway?

- Oh Fien had a great game, but its still Fien, hes not going to be our halfback next year, but hes doing the best he can, obviously helped that we smashed their forward and had plenty of opportunities.

- As for the 2GB comment, actually I find the commentators usually fall back to outdated player information, we notice and discuss trends on these forums, but the commentators take a while to catch on, they just dont have the time or vested interest in following individual player form as closely. Case in point was Rein being mentioned last week as Origin Hooker and the shock that Cam King actually played better.

Sorry for the 2GB quote if it annoyed you, however I was trying to say that not only I thought Fien had a good game but so did other people on this form & others were 2gb commentators.
Yet again, a certain poster still had a whinge about his play. Yes he has the right to his own opinion but bloody hell is is usually off the mark.

Some people must have been watching a different game to most if they say Fein did not play well. He was pretty solid on the weekend and his kicking game bar 1 was top notch.

Smithy would be ideal for a short term replacement. His record speaks volumes. He has made a few Grand Finals only to lose all but one to Bennett and the other to a Knights team with Andrew Johns (immortal).

Anyone but Price. He has been given a season to show his worth abnd he failed, his second season is worse (If Saints did not beat Parra they would be last and Parra would be in front and we all know how bad Parra are going). Scared to see what a 3rd season will bring...

Firstly, I rate(d) Fien as a hooker. Just not even close to King and Rein was probably the Dragons best last year.
Secondly, I know King was injured for some time but for "most" of the season he was behind Fien in the Cutters.
Thirdly, I would have done is what I believe anyone who wasn't more interested in pleasing a rival coach would have done. Have Fien play in the Cutters for most of the season only filling in for King when the latter was injured.
Finally, why this sudden loyalty for Fien? He is a journeyman who filled the only weakness a great Dragons team had at the time. He was handsomely rewarded but over the last 2 seasons far better hookers have emerged and Fien is an atrocious halfback. It's patently obvious but nothing personal.

I simply don't get this. To me he looked like Gidley used to play for NSW. Highly involved only resulting in NSW good attacking players getting screwed up. I commented on this forum at halftime that he needed to get the f**k out of the way and give Stanley a chance to do something with the ball. The Dragons dominated possession and field-position yet the only way they were able to score tries was through some 2 bits of individual brilliance by Dugan and one of those as a result of a terrible Knights mistake. Does this not tell us what kind of playmakers the Dragons have? Given Stanley would have almost had to knock Fien out to get the ball, he can't be blamed in my opinion.

At the current rate of decline the Dragons will be certainties for the spoon next year if Parra and injury ravaged Tigers don't save us from it this year.

Have you been taking that synthetic drug they are trying to ban.Give an opinion by all means, but you can't see that the players are putting in and having a go .You don't like the coach,we all know that, got the picture.
