Some might say this was a little crazy but the first time I ever flew was an international flight. I have to admit I was a bit nervous. Mainly cause I'd never done it before so I had no idea if I had a fear of flying or not. Thankfully it all went smoothly. I made sure I was in the middle and paid more attention to the inflight entertainment. Not to mention the flight attendance made it a lot nicer too. Thye certainly know how to pick 'em.
Also a lot of comedians make jokes about airline food, but I thought what I had was alright. Just the portion sizes wouldn't feed an anorexic hampster.
United get a pretty bad rap across the pacific. Old aircraft, flight attendants in their 70's.
China Southern are growing at a rate and will have a much bigger presence here in time. Personally I'd avoid Chinese airlines in general.

I might pay $50 more to avoid an 18 hour layover in KL next April. I don't know KL that well, but that is an extreme layover.
It has good food and an interesting and varied architecture. Spent a few days there in 05 to break up the flight and see somewhere new. Penang was more enjoyable for me tbh.

f**k, most domestic flights in the states will be united/delta. But I dont really give a shit on one-two hour flights. Air NZ for the flights there and back at least, they're good. Most airlines have been acceptable. Delta, United, and China Southern have all been utter shit though.
Yeah, I reckon I'll do the same.
Yeah, since you've lived in china for the last year or so it's a case of nothing new to see in KL
