Just shows how weak we are in the centres that we have to keep picking Green and to a lesser extent Chase to play First Grade there. Looking forward to next year and some real centres playing for us. Beale, Farrell even Thompson, maybe Cooper on match payments, Cooper is by far the best centre at the club bar injuries.

Green is only there by default now, I think someone has told Price never to pick Prior there again. Unavailable players that could've played centre instead of Green : Cooper, Runciman, Beale, C.Stanley and K.Stanley ( even Junior Vaivai from the Steelers is out for the season )

If Cooper plays next season it should be as a back rower who can fill in as centre. By March next year I'd have these guys ahead of him - Runciman, Beale, Farrell, Thompson, Vidot, K. Stanley & possibly even C.Stanley.

I just wished that Vidot would have given it to Hodges on the ground the way we did to Morris that time, a great opportunity missed!

Me too. How did he go?
Drinkwater didnt get much game time, he started off pretty nervous - his first kick was a shocker - tried to grubber into the in-goal but hit it way too hard.
once he settled in though i thought he straightened up the attack very nicely. we started to play a lot more direct, rather then the cross field running from Fien. Drinwater put on some good short passing.
All in all i think we should persist with him at half for the rest of the season.

I agree, he had a couple of little touches that gave us a bit variety after that poor kick.

His passing game I think is good both short and long, a couple of times he put guys through gaps.

We have nothing to lsoe now, if King is injured for the year like I have heard then switch him to support dummy half and just let drinkwater have a crack for th rest of the season.

thoughts on the game:

- two very average teams, broncos with slightly more structure and some better options in attack got over the line.
- another game where we had nearly 30 scored against us... our goal line defence is totally shot.
- No more Green please. move him into the back row for the cutters ASAP. he does not have a future in the centres.
- Quinlan needs to develop a kicking game to have a long term future in the halves.
- Without Weyman playing big minutes we really lack a lot of size up front.. we need to invest in some big forwards ASAP.

all in all i am happy that we at least made the game competitive and kept the score close, however nothing much to be happy about long term, Broncos are no where near a top 8 team but seemed to be quite comfortable combatting anything we threw at them.

Red, I agree. He only got a little game time, but as you said, once he settled into it, the whole dynamics of the team changed. It was good to see Fein move into dummy half when he came on too. I hope he continues to develop and get more game time over the coming weeks.

Agree ,and have Fien on the bench as hooker, saw enough aprt from his first kick to give him a full game at half and persist.
Or do we play him at 6 and Quinlan go back to fullback now Duges is out.
Special mention for Vidot ,even though he still struggles in defence, his game has improved and good luck to him.

I'm surprised not more was made of the penalty the Broncos received just before half time. A gift two points right in front of the posts, and it was the difference in the end. Don't know how it looked on TV, I'm going on what I saw in front of me at the game we had a good view of the incident.

Parker gets up and starts a stink whilst in possession and then gets the penalty. I know players were lying on him in tackle but the Broncos were doing the same. No real niggle, Parker was just pissed off because he wanted a quick play-the-ball. He had a brain explosion - the cardinal sin of starting a fight whilst in possession.

The penalty was not given until after he got up swinging, and amazingly it went in his favour. Most definitely a crowd penalty and one wonders if we would have got a penalty if the situations were reversed.

If Parker did that a few weeks ago he would have been sin binned.

Agree,i'm sure the penalty was given for holding the player down, but you cannot strike out at the marker and the penalty should have been reversed, especially as it led to a mellei.Fien argued the point very well ,if it happened any where else on the field then it would have been overturned for sure.

That's right it did....our players didn't put a cheap shot on hodges when he went down...even though hodges deserve it more than anyone!

I would have loved to see someone clean him up whilst he was on the ground, but that shows class. Take note Broncos2010.

I didn't see that but the point still stands. Parker started swinging over nothing. It instigated a brawl as you pointed out. Refs were sin binning that up until about 2 weeks ago.

If it happened down the other end of the field, imagine the outrage from the local chunder.

the penalty was awarded for Fien holding down the player. On TV the audio was quite clear between the ref and FIen.
Fien conceded the penalty for holding down was fair, however he made mention of the fact that teh player (Parker) cannot take matters into his own hands and start pushing...
When Fien asked the ref what he will do if the same situation occured up the other end of the field the ref replied next offence will be sin-bin.

I agree mate, do refs have the power to reverse a penalty?

If they don't they should.

But the way I look at it willow they should have never been down there in the first place. i.e opportunity came form a Dragons mistake.

OK, it was Dugan and he is allowed to make a mistake here and there but it doesn;t change the fact that it gave Broncos possession straight after we scored.

Story of the season...or part of the story anyway.
