While I have never thought that RS was the "best coach" available, I did have hope that he would stick around and provide a level stability for our up and coming players to grow into. He surely isn't/wasn't the worst coach available.

If he wasn't the worst available, then who was?

Serious question. He's crap, talks himself up and people believe it.

Only if your assumption is that we are built to contend in 2014, AND that Stuart would have delivered results.

I never thought he'd give us anything - I thought he might bring more effort and professionalism from the players, he doesn't even seem to have accomplished that.

That's pretty much what I had hoped he'd bring and after round 1 I thought we might even have a half decent year, but you're spot on with that comment.

As I posted earlier in the week, it was clear that Sticky intended to play the autism card as it would be hard to criticise him for making that call. Whilst we wish his daughter all the love and best care available, he knows that I know that we know that he bailed for other reasons.

As much as he likes to project an aura of strength and determination, Stuart has showed that he is weak as piss. Glad that we have be able to part ways now.

My only concern are players seeking to exercise (rumoured) get out clauses. I don't like the sound of the Hoppa rumours, especially now that the Dogs don't have a decent No.1.

The quicker the lads show up in numbers for pre-season the better for mine.

I'll take any coach, however I do harbour reservations over Henry. For too long I have seen his team boast the best playmaker, gun fullback and huge talented pigs, yet fail to show the unity and will to win as the current top 4 teams currently do.

Not entirely sold on JT either, but I have for a long time admired his footy brain and I would put him on par with Sterlo and Joey. Worth a shot over other assistant coaches out there ATM.

Have no issue with the family being used as an reason if it is true. But what a load of bullshxt , Ricky was on around $850k at the eels, families deal with the same family issues Stuart has ( e.g. His daughters disability) on a family income a lot lower then that. On his income he would be able to afford the best possible treatment as opposed to families that struggle on incomes lower the $100k but have the same issues.

Ricky has revealed his true colours - his reputation is gone .

Look at Shane Flanagan - he has been offered a lot more money to leave the sharks - but he hasn't even needed to think about before saying no.

. The Parramatta Eels have only themselves to blame for the early departure of Ricky Stuart as head coach.

In the end it was boardroom instability that convinced the former State of Origin and Kangaroos coach it was time to go.

That’s why he picked up the phone and reluctantly broke the news to embattled Eels chairman Steve Sharp last night.

LIVE: BLOG WITH BUZZ ROTHFIELD BELOW

Rebuilding the Eels from the rugby league scrapheap is the toughest and most demanding job in the game.

Ricky Stuart has left his post as Parramatta Eels coach to join the Raiders.

It requires all parties working in the one direction - the players, the coaching staff, the football club employees and the board.
Right now the club is split down the middle. The bloodshed from club elections earlier this season has created a massive divide.

Rookie chairman Steve Sharp has been unable to pull the warring parties together.

Stuart found it difficult to work under those circumstances. It’s hard enough to rebuild without all the distractions.

ON THE MOVE: Ricky Stuart will quit the Eels and join Canberra as coach.
The great Jack Gibson once famously said that winning premierships starts in the front office.

In other words, you can’t win competitions without the right people in the boardroom.

On the day Dave Furner was sacked as coach of the Canberra Raiders, I predicted Stuart would be their next coach.

The Raiders might have struggled on the field but at least they had strong management.

Many have attacked Stuart on social media for walking out on the Eels just one year into a three-season deal.

It's true that he left the Cronulla Sharks before his contract was up, too.

But this time he has made the right call.

YOUR VOTE: WAS RICKY RIGHT TO LEAVE THE EELS? OUR POLL BELOW

Will Hopoate meets with Parramatta Eels coach Ricky Stuart for the first time since 2011.
Parramatta has gone backwards this year, winning their second wooden spoon in a row.

They need a complete overhaul. A new coach, new management, new players.

The NRL should even step in to ensure it happens because right now they are holding back the rest of the game.
Television ratings and crowds are down this season because this once-powerful force of Sydney’s west is struggling so badly.

Neil Henry should be appointed immediately as head coach in a package deal with Peter Parr as chief executive. Under-performing players should be shown the door.

And the NRL should have a say in the appointment of new independent directors, because there is no sign of the club recovering next year under its current management model.

As for Stuart, his coaching reputation is on the line in Canberra next year. He simply cannot afford another bad year after disappointing stints at the Eels and the Sharks.

In my opinion he is a better coach than his more recent results indicate.

He has a wonderfully talented playing roster at Canberra that hopelessly underperformed this year.

And he also has a stable management all working in the one direction … unlike at Parramatta.

Right with you there Gronk.

I will be absolutely gutted if somehow Hoppa walks.
No idea how he would have a Stuart related clause in his contract, in fact doubtful that he would. But as they say, where there's smoke, there's fire. And there has been an uncomfortable amount of talk re: Hoppa "getting out".

I'm going to start the rumour right here and say he has a SK get out clause. Unless we sign Kearney back right away, he can walk.

Let's see. We've had:

The Next Wayne Bennett - FAIL
The Best Signing Since Jack Gibson - FAIL

How many more cliches are there left out there? Let's see if the current board can do any better than the last mob.

You know you're f#cked when the incoming coach has to be sold to the fans with a slogan. Please board, no more "rent-a-coach"s. Let's bring someone in who has not only ability but some connection to the club. With that in mind, I still say bring back Ando & give him FULL control. If not, then JT or even Brian Smith. Tony Smith is another option but, as I said, the club & its fans are crying out for someone who is passionate [really passionate, not Ricky Stuart passionate] about Parramatta.

I am not sold on Neil Henry but at least he would be an improvement on the last two...I think.

Go the Eels (always)

PS Ricky Stuart is not such a great coach. The way the media in this country dictates to the population who are the heroes and who are the villians p!sses me off. I haven't bought a newspaper (of any description) in years. I suppose the board would be smart to consider a coach who has good connections with the media - not that the last two have worked out...

the last we need is anyone with a connection to the past.....it only gives more fuel to the blame games going back and forth at the moment.

I don't care if they are from our past or beamed back from 200 years into the future. The ONLY criteria that should be considered is "can they get the job done". Period. We can't keep throwing money at longshots & hoping for the best.

Would Brian Smith bring us a premiership? History says no. Would Brian Smith build the club back into a professional, competitive unit that would have good coaches lining up to take over? You bet.
