Ricky Stuart quits Parramatta Eels for Canberra Raiders job

You have to find it funny that around the EXACT time all these rumors come out about board factions and continued instability Ricky starts dealing with the Raiders on the side.

Is the board anymore fractured/ unstable than it's been over the past 10 years? Is it more of a mess then it was when Ricky started? Yet as soon as Furner is given the ass at Canberra it's the most volitle it's ever been, Ricky can't handle it, and its making his job too hard to stick to. Fkn please!

This guy is a protected species. He coached Australia to a world cup loss, chucked an almighty tantrum at the refs and was put in charge of NSW. There, he 'led' us to 2 more series losses, but has been credited with re-installing the passion in NSW rugby league. WTF did he do? Since Brad Fittler retired he has a 35% winning record at NRL level. Apart from a 3rd place finish with Cronulla his best performance since Fittler retired has been 11th. He resigned from Cronulla and left the joint in a mess, and now he's resigned here amongst the most volitile board in the history of rugby league? Please? What a gutless merkin.

I, like most other Parra fans tried to buy into this unlikeable asshats 'vision'. I believed that a cleanout was desperately needed amongst the playing group and he did that. But even the most crappiest of coaches could've come in with the instruction to clear the playing decks. The way in which he did it and the absolute alarming rate at which we went backwards on the field is damning of his coaching ability. We really looked like we had no coach. We had no attitude and commitment in defence and no structure in attack whatsoever.

So piss off Ricky. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Not only was it enough for you to leave us in a rabble, you had to create a frenzy about board instability in order to cover your own pea hearted gutless decision. No wonder Papali, Falou, Hock etc aint coming. Let's hope we don't lose anymore over the next few weeks because of this f*cking idiot who should have his coaching license deregistered by the NRL for bringing the game into disrepute . Au Revoir dickhead.

Never thought I'd say it - but I agree with Ashley !

What's more he sat there at the presser on the weekend and lied his arse off to every supporter. Complete and utter bullshit artist. Coward of the highest order.

I have to agree with most of the sentiments posted so far, in this and other threads.
I was prepared to give Stuart his time to turn this club around. Just like I was with Kearney.
As poorly as we performed this season (and we clearly were far worse this season than over the past two seasons), I was still happy to give him another season to put his plan into place.
But, I'm extremely disappointed in his decision. I understand that he is his own man, and can do what he likes. But I have a problem with many things he has said this season, criticising others for moral wrong doings, yet he goes and does the same thing himself.
Certainly, in my eyes, a man with low scruples and morals.
I was in Ricky, just like you asked me to be.
Thanks for nothing.

Then has the hide to run to every media outlet available to try and minimise the damage to his image. Coward.

Well said - I still can't see how the board affected Ricky's coaching of the side , he had total control of the footy side of things

Currently an article on the CanBra Times site that is talking about the whys and why fors. They talk about the Papalii incident and how Stuart is ok about it now because it mirrors what he himself has done.

Seriously, CanBra is more than welcome to the merkin and I hope we play them twice next year.

Well said Suity.

Funny how the board became an issue for him when the rumours surfaced.

Ricky Stuart is a great man!

He has managed to do something that very few others have ever managed to achieve. (Think Gibson, Sterling, Cronin ,Price)
That unite the bickering, fractured supporters who now all agree on same thing..

Ricky Stuart is merkin scum !!!!!

The board wasn't an issue. It's just an excuse for the merkin to run away from a situation he didn't have answers for. That's what disappoints me most.
As I said, I've lost any remaining bit of respect I had for the man, and that wasn't much anyway.
Furthermore, those that employed him thought they were doing the best for the club and team. He was the best available at the time and came with promise to turn things around. Sadly, it didn't work out that way.
