I don't think Ricky has done anything wrong. He didn't break his contract with us. He simply exercised an option that was in it. It was always a possibility when you have options like that in contracts.
If you don't want it to happen then don't include it in the contract.

I'm more angry that we would have put such an option in the contract. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

All in all, this shit is caustic. Supporters can't be expected to be loyal to their club anymore when those who represent the club on the field and in the boardroom are constantly backstabbing each other or looking to enforce moronic contract clauses to further their gains. Loyalty is a product of a bygone era it seems, and consequentially these days I am caring less.

It's hard not to feel sorry for you guys. The bloke signed for 3 years, pledged unwavering commitment to the club and left you high and dry after the first. That's understandably it's left sour taste in your all of your mouths, hell it would for any fan of any team.

Looking at it from a broader perspective in life, I can understand why he has done it and do believe his reasons are genuine.
I think he's always harboured ambitions to coach his old side and if he passed again the opportunity may never come again, and he'd regret it for the rest of his days. Then there's also the family aspect with both his and his wife's parents still in the Canberra area, life with a disabled child would take its toll and having that family support network would be extremely beneficial for them.

I reckon JT is the standout candidate for new coach, he's done well in the past and has now also got the added experience of a year long apprenticeship with a Minor Premiership winning coach.

I'm sure you won't mind Milford leaving then. His dad is very sick and he needs to be closer to him and I'm sure the chance to play for his childhood team he just can't refuse can he. Lets see if the Raiders fans are so compassionate when the shoe is on he other foot:D

Milford was interviewed on the local news down here last night after winning the player of the year at the Raiders. When asked about his plans for next year he seems to have changed his tune somewhat than what his manager was saying about his desperate need to get back to Brisbane. With Ferguson gone they can pay him more money by the looks of it.

If he wanted to coach Canberra he shouldn't have signed a 3 year contract at Parramatta. Now it just looks like he went there to fill in time (and get a $850,000 paycheck) until his preferred job came up.

I don't care that he's leaving. I'm pleased as even before he came here I thought he was a pigheaded, arrogant prick. But to come here and treat the club, the players and the fans like that is pointless and harmful. Took our money and left us with another wooden spoon, a shit season and an unhappy playing group. He is a dishonest, disloyal disgrace of a man.

But now I can look forward to cheering on an Eels team without that f**khead behind it. I like both Henry and Taylor so I'd be happy with either one as they are 10x better than Stuart.

he should be treated as the low life he is and kept away from the team, he has left in questionable circumstances.

for him to be telling players who are contracted to the club that one of the reasons he is leaving is because of the conflict at board level. what good would this do other than make him feel his decision was justified, players now may be further questioning their own decision because of his lame excuse to get more money

Tell us what you really feel Sid.

Thought this quote was pretty funny - "But we did even better last year with a guy who couldn't coach (Kearney)."

I dont think Ive ever heard a board member of any club ever publicly make a comment like that...

Poor poo. Shatter his dreams

On sterlo, hindy said the players weren't disappointed that Stuart decided to leave. If there's truth to that then it may be a good thing, and the players' thoughts on it may be enough to keep anyone that is thinking of leaving or not coming to the club because of Stuart.

Hayne's criticism is interesting too. Would be crap if after his comments he somehow got out of his last two years.

In any case I am looking forward to seeing (hopefully) hayne, hopoate and sandow playing for us in 2014.

Looking at Hayne's comments it would be hard to see him leaving over Sticky leaving.

Paul kent on Ricky Stuart's coaching credentials..."what I will say, he coaches better players better than bad players"

Is that just about the stupidess thing you've ever heard? Talk about clutching at straws...

I like Paul Kent, but he has made an absolute fool of himself with his recent comments about Ricky. Does he genuinely think people are that stupid? What ricky has done to the eels is a low act, just admit it. I reckon Ricky knows it himself.

good to see few unbiased opinions giving Ricky an accurate character appraisal.

Milford's clause is a bit different though, and I think it's safe to say that his family & manager are pushing the truth a bit.

To my knowledge Ricky had a clause to simply leave whenever he felt like... absurd really. Your board and/or management have a lot to answer for that sheer stupidity.

I don't think anyone could've seen the Raiders job opening up this year by way of Furner being sacked. He's basically a son to the chairman and the brother of the CEO, plus we'd never sacked a coach before him.

Ricky maybe a club legend and now our new coach but I agree that what he's done and the way he's gone about it is very poor form, but I can understand why he's done it. We only live once I guess.
