It just shows how much the Australian media love to rubbish rugby league.

If slater stepped in to a fight, he may have saved the other guy from serious injury. I've seen plenty of despicable chavs in England who would keep kicking a man once he's down. There is an alarmingly high number of class-less people here unfortunately (it's a shame too because there are plenty of great people over here too). Anyway, I'll hop off the soapbox now.

Slater was talking to the bouncer and some guy waiting in line got angry and blind shot him so Billy turned around and punched him back

Some of the headlines in the Aussie media for this incident are absolutely horrible.

Our media truly suck.

I wonder what kind of jacket he went back to retrieve. Probably some ghey-ass shit.
Nah it's totally normal, they have a photo -

^LOL It somewhat matches his Trackwork style.

Slater's mrs is acting like a drama queen on Instagram about it all:

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...ter-nightclub-altercation-20131111-2xcrq.html

“Some man thought it was ok to punch my husband in the face because he thought he pushed in line,” Nicole wrote. “If he had king hit him and killed him I would have to raise my two kids alone.
“What has this world come to?”

LOL "what has the world come to?" - There's much worse things going on in the world than Slater getting punched.

Oz media, in particular, appear to be turds. It's similar in NZ, although not nearly as smelly. The sad fact though, is they are turds because a good percentage of the audience are turds. The turds of the Oz media are merely catering to the turds in the Oz public. As long as you click on the story, their job is done. They have no sense of shame. If they make a mistake they just ignore it and move on as if nothing happened. They have no conscience, and so feel no need to apologise when they get a story wrong.

Its only the News Ltd media in Aus, that are generally tabloid crap though. In comparison to the British Tabloids however they are almost "classy".

I note the Daily Tele website has the headline "Slater breaks his silence!" today, FMD its been what less than 24 hours??

I don't think it's a media beat up when slater really did get into a fist fight outside of a manchester nightclub in the early hours of the morning and get arrested. I mean that's dickish behaviour whether he started the fight or not, and whether he was charged or not, should be reported and frankly he also should be punished.

Just saw an article about this on Channel 9. There British reporter was covering the story. Slater is completely in the clear. In fact he was painted as a golden boy.

TBH it was excellent coverage for the code.

Papali was a totally different case and probably didn't realise he was been robbed until the thieves had legged it.

Media reported that Papalli was forced to go to a cash machine and withdraw cash. Think he knew he was being robbed

Good job there was CCTV for this incident proving Slaters innocence otherwise the media would never shut up about it

punished for what??? The players were given time off to go out. He only went back to retrieve his jacket. You should expect to go out and enjoy yourself without being bashed. Too many times you hear of people being punched and killed without provocation while on a night out.

Really? I thought they did the distraction technique. I guess i should of read more.

That means whoever said he should of hit him back is even more of a turkey than I thought. I doubt they used harsh language to force him to withdraw cash.

In case anyone is still in doubt, parts of Manchester are horrible.

 Do you have an alibi for your whereabouts at the time of this incident? I think you should change your tune about Billy now, since he refused to lay charges against you
