My girlfriend says he's just a "typical Huntly boy". Can a New Zealander or a casual fancier of wool please confirm/deny?

(i'm a kiwi but i'm not too fond of wool!) ...he's from levin/foxton for a start (huntly's in a different part of the country)... i've met a few of his relatives and some of them wouldn't look out of place in a 'once were warriors' sequel (unintentional pun)... they have links to drugdealing, crime and gangs (headhunters i think!). not surprising since the levin/foxton areas are not exactly the most financially strong parts of the country (last time i went to either every second shop seemed to be boarded up)

i remember when he made his debut, and i was told that he was a bit of a fighter before the warriors signed him... good to see he's changed since then

I'm sure he'll be on his Facebook or Twitter talking about Kiwi Spirit/pride/scaffolding/doing security for the new Minto Mall.

Is this the new bar set by the NRL? Charged and you will not be registered/de registered? I look forward to the day a star gets in to trouble if it is to see if they are consistent.

Packer should have picked his fight in a nightclub que in Manchester.

You can call it a double standard but if it is the new regime then it could just be the standard. If the NRL just put out a statemnet saying that players with multiple infringments will be stood down from now on, then there would be no talk of double standards. Unless you want to look into the past.

Off the top of my head there are four 1st grade players facing charges right now - packer, Fergo, Richie Faaoso, and Walker. Fergo is a multiple offender and the press statements infer that Packer has more than one indiscretion under his belt. I think the other two are on their first incident. So it is pretty easy to see that the situations are different between the players currently involved with legal issues, and the notion of a double standard is yet to be proven.

It's just the NRL him as a example but will register him before round one.
Weak attempt at deterring off field behaviour for the media.

Its just because its the off season.

Whether he is registered right now or in four months makes no difference at all. Their just preparing for the worst without actually f*cking anyone over. If he was to get charged now, they wouldnt have to go through the whole ordeal of deregistering him.

Ever since this merkin embarrassed rugby league by happily pissing himself on the field I've been hoping he'd go down for something and get f**ked out of the game

Don't be surprised if you here about some Mental/Health issues regarding Packer. Def don't condone what hes alleged to have done but the boy does need some professional help outside the game

Your a band wagon jumper arent you ? Have you ever played a game of footy ? Ive spewed , pissed and accidentally shat myself on the footy field before. Your from that PC crowd who are just ruining the whole f**king world. A guy took a piss and you want to crucify him ? Give me a break. Crawl back under your rock.

On topic..

Rusty needs to pull his finger out and smarten up, start taking footy seriously, under Bennett he could be anything, if he gets the chance.

Yes and its just an amazing feat of mental agility that the other 99.9% of players manage to take a piss before running onto the field. You must be proud to be in the company of Mr. Packer.

So is the NRL de-registering all the players that were arrested on that weekend? What about Faaoso and his car chase?

Seems as though Slater may be asked to explain himself now. NRL needs to sell their new model as a "consistent across the board" one that will not favour the more 'popular' players when they f**k up.

There was a lot more behind us letting Packer go than got into the media.

He's been charged already. Charges were laid before the NRL decided not to register his contract.
