Happens to me all the time with basic excel work. Given excel is essentially a business essential skill these days, people coming to ask me to give them things I've already shown them or are done very quickly and easily in excel is as painful as it is demeaning because it essentially suggests that they are above 'wasting their time' doing a task but I somehow am not...

Yep. A big part of the emails that I have received this morning is this. This f**king dumb bitch thinks she is running the show. Particularly at the moment because our boss is away on holidays.

I've responded to the first email with a step by step lesson (complete with screen shots) in how to complete the task and a suggestion that she should do this herself in future as it really is an easy thing to do.

AKA stop wasting my f**king time and do this yourself you dumb bitch.

Lets see what comes back.

Yeah, but they've been raised in a very strange way and they have to come to the truth in their own time - it can't be done for them.

I'm sure they just want to be left alone and fair enough.

Oh, of course. They're a zillion times better than where they were. It's clear though that they have more to change is all I'm saying.

But I'd rather them now than what they were before.

I've done the step by step stuff. It never works. They always take the path of least resistance aka email me and ask to do it. What really works is when I just don't answer their emails and they get the shits, talk to my boss, then I tell my boss the reality and they cop a serve.

THEN they read the step by step stuff.

Louis Theroux is awesome mostly

He's quite good, actually. I enjoy his stuff.

I f**king hate when people send you emails asking you to do shit for them when, the actual task is so simple that if they did it themselves, it would be quicker than writing the original email.

I work with a lady who does it all the time. Frustrates the shit out of me. Checking my emails this morning and I have 6 emails from her, all with screen shots and attachments asking me to check a few things and the checking part is literally just punching a number into our computer system and pressing enter. Half of the queries are so easy you don't even have to punch the number into the system, you can literally derive the answer just by looking at the situation.

Now, not only do I have to complete the menial task, but I have to reply to her emails as well.

I feel like going into her office and telling her to stop wasting my f**king time.
is she hot.

Tell her you'll do it for 'favours' nudge nudge wink wink.

If she's not hot, then do what I do, delete the emails and keep deleting them until she arrives.

When she eventually turns up or calls calmly say "Sorry, I didn't get any of your emails, you better get onto IT and see if they can fix your emails"

And just keep giving them the runaround.

Also, it looks like they still need to learn a little more. The last two lines were interesting.

You don't just get over genocide and torture, sweetheart...

Well, Lynx is right about a lot there, like it or not. No one involved was really a good bloke. Churchill was a merkin and Stalin was worse than Hitler.

The other one...I can understand the response given where they've come from.

Churchill and Hitler were more alike than people care to realise.

Both were appalling politicians
Both were completely out of depth in running their country
Both took over from a weak willed leader
Both were great at rallying troops

Be careful Baz. Coles are like the Galactic Empire; they don't give a shit who's planet they destroy as long as they get what they want...

Rooservelt was one of the few statesmens involved in the war. The rest were deplorable in one way or another. Churchill gets a conceded pass mark on the basis that he didn't successfully murder his own people or 6 million Jews in his time in power. (nothwithstanding ordering troops to the front lines given he was in a war)

This may be true, but Churchill didn't have genocidal intentions. Which immediately places him in a different category to both Hitler and Stalin (who murdered millions of his own).

Both were painters
Both loved wearing military uniform
Both loved making public speeches to huge masses of their people and armed forces

Churchill may not have murdered large numbers of English, but he was less than concerned about what happened to colonials like us. It's well documented that he was of the opinion that Aussies, Kiwi's and soldiers from any of the other British colonies were akin to canon fodder if it meant that it saved the lives of a few home born Brits.

When it seemed plausible that Australia was a significant target of the Japanese, he was also very much against releasing Australian troops to come home and defend Australian interests. He much rathered having Aussies fighting the Germans in Africa to protect British interests and trade routes, rather than defending Australia from an imminent invasion.

Of course. The guy was a gigantic c**k. I'm not suggesting he wasn't. He also preferred us fighting the enemy because we were better soldiers and had a helluva lot more starch in opposition than his own people. The Rats of Tobruk are good evidence of this, not to mention the plenty of other stories where Aussies turned the tide in battle.

But he isn't in the same league as Hitler or Stalin when it comes to the levels of evil they reached. That was all I was suggesting.

Yep. I agree.

Something which always intrigues me is how the likes of Churchill would have been portrayed had the axis powers won the war. Considering that the victors of war write the history, I always wonder how much of everything is covered up or embellished.

Obviously, you can't remove the facts and they generally come to the surface eventually but I'm sure that a lot of what we hold to be true has been doctored up over the years as well. Whenever I hear a war story, I wonder exactly how much of it is on the level.
