Just a dreadful signing by Souths. Lote should have retired after 2011.

I'd have liked Souths to sign a winger from the RLWC rather than attempt to revive a has-been with little dignity left in his career either on or off the field. Alex Hurst from Scotland, for example, was sharp and aggressive in every match in the tournament.

Lote is probably just there to make up for the loss of experience in Crocker, Asotasi, Lima and King. We lost quite a few players used to rep and finals football at once

But players within the squad have GAINED rep experience.. G Burgess, McQueen, Goodwin broke back into the NZ team, even Merritt (yes Merritt), and they've all played finals now. I can't rationalise it.

These guys are still relatively young though. Coaches like to have an old head around and most of those players have only own one to two finals games at most

an experienced backup winger for one year , who should have come relatively cheap. He only needs to be available to play > handful of games to be a better backup then King was in 2013.

Gives Souths a year to further year to develop one of their younger player and/or buy proven centre/winger for 2015 ( souths were in the market for Hopoate and Fergo , so this is just a cheaper plan C )

Souths were never in the market for Hopoate all that talk about him wanting out was media hype because sticky left and they wanted to sell more papers

Actually our club did talk to Hopoate and things might have gone further if Arthur didn't land the job

Players that see themselves in Fantasia sometimes find the Wizard a little more uncompromising than they imagined . . . then again, pleasing him looks good on a resume

Storm signed Ben Roberts and Joel Romelo today.

http://www.nrl.com/storm-sign-joel-romelo,-ben-roberts/tabid/10874/newsid/75974/default.aspx

Good to see that Romelo earned his stripes to get a full time contract too.

Roberts will be our starting #6 you'd think, our weakest position after Finch retired and Widdop left.

Bellyache has been called a genius in the past because he has the ability of turning some very bog average 1st graders into quality NRL players, Ben Roberts will really test his genius status. I think he finally has a player who will struggle to raise the bar

If you follow his career there's no way he'd abandon ship when it has full sails

Different matter if it runs into a doldrum

We were in a doldrum(whatever the f**k that is) when he signed on genius, if we are at full sail its because of him.

Your still in dock ol' mate, first mate Cleary is the bloke who'll have to get the joint ship shape . . . Jabba's just been standing behind the chair he's sitting on signing new blood on board.

A doldrum is a place where the wind doesn't blow, something Jabba's unacustomed to, if it ever stops blowing up his arse he'll beat the rats off
