Hard job for a quick, too physically demanding I imagine...

spinners would be ok, of course if Warne hadn't been such a merkin he might well have got the job.

Lyon could well be a vice-captain? Smith looks very obvious, keeper is the other one - going way back, one does wonder why Kim Hughes got the gig ahead of Rod Marsh

Unless you have 6 complete geniuss in your top 6, bowlers should never captain. You need a neutral person deciding who bowls when.

On top of every other problem, bowling captains will be bagged for bowling themselves too much and for not bowling themselves enough.

It just is potentially very messy.

Every captain I've ever played under was a bowler.

And considering how f**king brittle the top 6 is these days, why not get a tough as teak bowler to lead?!?

Bowlers are second class citizens, not worthy or capable of the job.

It's not impossible that the next captain isn't in the side yet but you'd have to say smith is the obvious choice.

Nathan Lyon could be a smoky if you were forced at gunpoint to choose a bowler.

I've heard him talk about the game, no chance of Lyon being captain material imo

I don't think bowler or batsman. Best for the job is best for the job. Smith is probably the pick although Davey Warner if he cleans up his act could be a candidate. He handles the spotlight well, if anything he relishes it.
