US Professional Rugby League Coming Soon!!

Houston is closer to the East coast than it is to the west coast... and in all honesty, Houston would be an all right choice but they could do much better. They don't have a decent ground to play at--only college football stadia which are too short and too narrow. The weather there is...

Should the 2013 WC be in America?

Yes, that's true. Club RU games don't get more than a few hundred, if that, and RL is probably lower. The only time I've ever played rugby (union as there's no league in Texas) in front of a large crowd was when my high school played at halftime during an Arena Football match. That was an...

US Professional Rugby League Coming Soon!!

It really is. I played in front of 5000 every Friday night on an off week, and there were games we had crowds of over 10,000. This is for an average team in Dallas, where there is lots of other stuff to do on Friday nights. In the smaller towns where there is nothing to do literally the entire...

    AMNRL Expands in 12th season

Why has Chicago still not entered the AMNRL? Don't they have the numbers to support a team?

Should the 2013 WC be in America?

We don't need to market it football because Americans, regardless of what the rest of the world thinks, are not that stupid and understand what football is. They will either think that a) "foreigners don't play good football so I'm not going to watch it" or b) "this isn't football, why'd I waste...

US Professional Rugby League Coming Soon!!

Hate to burst your bubble, but a professional sporting event gettin a 2-3000 crowd average in the states is embarrassing, bush league material. High school sports in cities like that AVERAGE 5k+ plus, with upwards of 20k coming out for huge rivalries and big games. Texas has had crowds of over...

Should the 2013 WC be in America?

Soccer was not particularly huge in grassroots in 1994...actually about the size he American rugby grassroots is now. Soccer was a sport played by little kids and foreigners until the World Cup made it acceptable to the general populace...just as rugby is a sport played by drunken college boys...

US Professional Rugby League Coming Soon!!

I think the league has a very high likelihood of getting started. Whether that will mean it will begin searching for coaches, investors, and players, or actually play games is up in the air. It will have to run in debt for a long time, and it will have to be promoted endlessly to even make it to...

Should the 2013 WC be in America?

I don't see why the 2013 World Cup couldn't be in the States. It's the most popular sport in QLD and NSW and they could only get an average attendance of 16k to last year's world cup. In the United States, high schools get that kind of attendance for sporting events, not international world cup...

RFL rules out shortening English club season

It really doesn't matter when they schedule the ESL GF... The WC should be held at the end of the season, and if the ESL doesn't move the final forward, then they will be without the best players for the finals.

    Where are the Queenslanders?!?!

I think that the team should recruit first and foremost from the Southern Division of QLD and the Northern Rivers Division of NSW. The Gold Coast club is in a unique position of stradling two borders, and shouldn't pick one side, and thus leave the other out. I can see the Coast being a major...

    Titans are favourites!

A Neptune/Poseidon based character would be a great mascot, but it isn't a Titan! It is a god--there is a difference. It's not that many would really know the difference... I like Pirates...here in the States, you don't see the Wiggles unless you are in the habit of watching Toon...

    Web site for name Vote

Titans=Greek mythological figures. Around over 1000 years before the USA came into existance. NOT American. Pirates=People who raid, steal, and kill. Tormented the USA well into the 1800's (Barbary Pirates, Blackbeard, Jean Lafitte, etc.). NOT American. BTW, Marlins is as American as the...

WC Finals in Feb 2008 a chance, says Carr

There is a very simple soloution to this dilemma: If the RFL is unwilling to shorten or move their season, then the Super League finals would have to be played without the players who are selected for the World Cup. The RLIF is the international governing body...the RFL is UNDER them. The...

I have my doubts about Wales/Scotland/Ireland

The Scotish and Welsh are just as likely to support Great Britain as their own province (they aren't "countries," which are independent entities)...that is, not very. EVERY Scotish or Welsh person I've met thinks that RL is a boring and predictable game (I disagree). I can see Ireland and...
