I like David Smith's joke that they will break the cap in 2016 to get Burgess back to Souths...

Provided they allow every club a marquee allowance it will work. I doubt it will happen. Good to see them being reactive rather than proactive.

The Dragons are keen to retain Morris but are under immense salary cap pressure for next year. Coach Paul McGregor is keen to bolster his forward pack but is under pressure to move on players, some of whom are contracted.

Parramatta's English international forward Lee Mossop is a player of interest if he can be signed at the right price. However, the club may tap several players, including Dan Hunt, Nathan Green and Jack Stockwell, on the shoulder. It's understood Dylan Farrell could also be released to join Cronulla.

That is a damn shame if true, jimmy.

Holbrook did a great job with the 20s this year.

Or did he just have the best players?

There is certainly an element of truth to this. Holbrook was blessed with a roster stacked with plenty of individual talent but he does deserve credit for the work he did in taking them to the top four.

Guys like Kelepi Tanginoa, Kaysa Pritchard and Tepai Moeroa were always going to perform in the 20s regardless of their coach but Holbrook got pretty good value out of the rest of the squad.

Ryan Matterson had a break out year under his tutelage and went from a fringe bench player in 2013 to a NSW and Australian rep this year. Zach Dockar-Clay also benefited from his guidance, stripping down his game and rebuilding his fundamentals.

Leva Li, Joey Lussick, Tui Kamikamica and Alex Twal are other players who made significant debuts or improvements throughout the season.

In the end you are just playing the merkin (as always!) so of course you already know that while he did have a good roster he also did plenty of good work.
