First the brand damage to the RLWC by an immature rant from their CEO, now brand damage to the Nines with their whinging about its validity from their new CEO and GM. Not to mention the constant criticism of the NRL, ARLC and pretty much most things RL by their GM. Is it a pre-requisite to work for the Panthers that you have to bring the game into disrepute through the media?

Is it time the NRL reigned these white anters in?

What's the answer, no criticising head office?

All club officials must salute when Todd Greenberg walks past?

It's bad enough refs are a protected species, and players can get fined for speaking out of line. Rugby League doesn't need more stifling of criticism.

Hah, it'd be nice. Gus and his feral underlings can say stupid things but that only reflects on them, every sport has a few loons.

His commentary is the real problem imo and for that the blame is solely with Channel 9. He's a dribbler and constantly negative, a prime case of getting a gig not based on what you know but who you know.

Only speaking the truth. The nines are a waste of time, an unnecessary distraction and most if not all club CEO's would share the same opinion.

Yeah a 2 time premiership coach, 2nd most succesful origin coach and a bloke widely respected by those within the game (even Lockyer had him write a few passages in his autobiography) knows jack shit about the game.

4 Logies as a commentator as well. No great shakes to anyone here I don't suppose, but I know of no other League caller who has won 4 Logies.

The answer is don't bite the hand that feeds you!
Panthers have every right to express their dislike of this tournament to Greenburg and grant. Just don't do it through the fricking media that damages the games corporate, media and fan appeal. Seems they learnt nothing from the RLWC fiasco and the latest CEO seemingly has as much in the brain department as the last guy.

If the commentary jobs were on merit then Voss would be on FTA instead of Hadley, while Rabs and the coach best remembered for losing the unlosable series would've been put out to pasture years ago.

I doubt they rang the paper. More so the journo contacted them.

It's another time when Honesty hurts. There's 5 players that injury permitting will play NRL round 1. How many from Bulldogs or Souths will play in Round 1?

Seems much better to be quiet and have players pull out Reynolds style

I find he's often right (and often very wrong too) but the way he harps on and it infects every area of his public persona is pretty bad.

Game commentary in particular should be a no-go zone, purely for the quality of Channel 9s broadcast and enjoyment of its viewers. Solution: Switch to Fox.

Clearly not because the likes of JT, Hayne, Johnson have been sent over...

And that's where your entire premise falls over. The NRL does not feed the clubs..

Did you read Johnson's comments and how limited time he will play? All those mentioned will be the same. Won't play every game

Don't see their CEOs or GMs throwing tanties on twitter, or claiming they have 21 unavailable players (gonna be tough fielding a side round 1 for the Panthers..).

The claim that other CEOs feel the same is at best unproveable, likely bullshit

you do realise round 1 is 4 weeks away?

4 out are just coming back from ACL
2 players lost Fiji passport.
5 more back from 4 nations (Smith, Cronk etc also are out for that reason).
4 in All Stars on next Friday night and the short turnaround.

There's 15 just there

I can't think of the others but given the side had to be approved by NRL. I guess NRL would of looked into the others missing.

As for the others agreeing. There was a story doing the rounds that they want it gone. Guess we will see in a few months where that goes

The Panthers are bigger than the game.

Really? So the club grants paid to the clubs That make up over 50% of revenue for most clubs) and a license to exist from the NRL for participation in NRL activities, including the nines, isn't feeding them?

And how do the NRL make money to pay the club grants? Pretty f**kin sad competition the NRL would have without the clubs.

If the NRL was disbanded tomorrow the clubs would just make a new one and no f**ks would be given by anyone. The NRL as an organisation has no intrinsic value.
