Sharks will have plenty of cap space and I guess Fitzy has more pulling power than Morris. Sad really as Morris seems to have the backing of the players. In saying that Barrett seems to always have the backing of the players and comes up empty nearly every week

But Morris has not been coming up empty. He got them into the finals with serious handicaps and not any control over his roster. I can see why sharks fans are excited about this but all I can say is the broncos fans were excited about Seibold, Cowboys fans excited about Payten. The Dogs fans were excited about Barrett and all the cap space he had to spend. Being a good assistant is a long, long way from being a good head coach. Garth Brennan could not of had any more lower grade success and reputation as an assistant and he couldnt make it work.

Getting rid of a coach who has been getting them to finals with some serious handicaps for an unproven rookie could be a good move or it could end up looking very Broncos.

Agree, there have been a lot of assistants who were monumental failures, they understand the footballing aspect but being a head coach requires a certain sort of personality too.

You ask all the legends that Wayne Bennett coached and they all say the same thing, he cares about you.

Reality check: Sharks have won only two of their last eight games. Neither of which was against a top 8 side from last year.
Do we hang on and hope this trend stays the same or do we bite the bullet now and put changes in place?
I'm with the management on this one, I like Bomber and think he had done ok, but he is part of the Sticky/Flanno/Bomber era.
The Sharks want a new direction. Better to start it now before the collapse sets in.
Apparently it's official that Fitzy has signed. Good.

There might be some interest in getting some spurting and gaping well happening at Red Hill next year:

In form Penrith Panthers back-rower Kurt Capewell has been linked with a move to the Brisbane Broncos ahead of the 2022 NRL season.

The Courier Mail reported the Queensland Origin star has been in talks with Brisbane in the past few months over a potential move to Red Hill.

The Panthers are under salary cap pressure as they aim to keep the bulk of their 2020 Grand Final side together after re-signing Jarome Luai, Stephen Crichton and Isaah Yeo.

Capewell’s career has gone from strength to strength since joining the Panthers from the Sharks ahead of the 2020 season and he finished the year as one of the stars of Queensland’s Origin series triumph.

The 27-year-old is reportedly set to be offered a $450,000-per-season deal to link with the Broncos, with his agent Clinton Schifcofske revealing his client was in high demand.

“Kurt has a bit of interest from a few clubs and we are working through things now,” Schifcofske told News Corp.

“We have assured Penrith we will go back to them before we do anything.

“A return to Queensland definitely appeals to him. He will weigh up all options and see what’s on the table.

“The Broncos showed some interest in the pre-season. We met with them but unfortunately the deal wasn’t the right deal at the time. Kurt backed himself to start the season well and that’s exactly what he has done off the back of Origin.

“I’m hopeful the Broncos will come back to us. He would be perfect for the Broncos, he is exactly what they need, an edge back-rower who is versatile and a leader.

“The Broncos have a lot of young forwards so to have an experienced leader who has played Origin and is a Queensland kid, it would be a good fit for the club.

“Penrith want to keep him but Kurt isn’t going to get what he is worth. They have to spend a fair bit of their cap to keep (Jarome) Luai, (Stephen) Crichton, Isaah Yeo and Liam Martin, so there mightn’t be much left over for Kurt.”

Capewell has started all five matches for the Panthers so far this season after ousting Liam Martin from the starting side in the off-season following his Origin heroics last year.

The versatile backrower has played 78 NRL matches after making his debut with the Sharks in 2016.

Would be a great pick up for them, he knows how to fill a hole that is for sure.
If i was him I'd wait one more year, till bennett returns to SEQ for the new team, Broncos are not climbing the ladder for another 5 years the way their travelling, and one 2nd rower isn't going to change that, and even with David Fafita doesn't seem to have affected their standings this year, they are just shít, hopefully we put a gorilla on them this up coming game
