Ur having a lend if u going to pretend you know fox & kayo numbers or u think it's mainly Perth ppl
And your just being foolish if you are measuring rl fanbase by fta ratings only in perth. Parra v manly only drew 145k in a city of over 5 million, can’t be many rl fans in sydney then? See how stupid your argument sounds?

There’s a reason for that. Australian tv dont want to show them.

I agree with that but it’s a bit of a circular argument: they don’t get shown on TV, so there is no support or neutral interest (because they are not reported on) which then reinforces the decision to not show them.

It’s a shame because there were years in the past where they were a much more exciting and enjoyable team to watch than others who were on FTA constantly

Even though it just regurgitates Rothfield article it does say vlandys and abdo are meeting wa govt officials next month (origin)

with a sold out origin it could be where they seal the deal for the license

If bears get back in how long before most games are at North Sydney oval?!

That would depend on the ownership structure. If it’s majority owned by WA people then the answer would be never. Realistically there would need to be anew company started up called west coast bears or similar. Ownership structure could then be anything. Ideally it would be 80% WA owned with bears having a 20% stake in the company and a seat on the board. The rest of the board made up by the other WA investors, a seat for nrlwa and a seat for the sports minister.

The possibility of North Sydney doing what Manly did in 2003 is precisely the reason this proposal is more trouble than it is worth. The News Ltd media are shit stirrers and will raise this question to sell papers in Sydney the moment crowds in Perth stumble, which is inevitable and happens to all expansion clubs once the initial excitement wears off and the team struggles to win games.

It would be better for rugby league on the North Shore to build a stronger bond between the Roosters and Bears, especially amongst the younger generation. It will be difficult and might require a tinkering of the Roosters brand, but it's a necessary move for a club that has a small fanbase. A start would be to add the North Sydney Bears logo to the back of their jersey and hand free tickets to all junior players from the North Shore.

Its a insurance policy if the costs of running a team out of WA are still too excessive

Flight and accommodation won't come into it these days. NRL can cover the costs with the money they generate from broadcast deals. It was a different story in 1995 as the game only got $10m pa from Ch9.

They could have flown first class if he hadn't agreed to a $100million cut from Fox lol.
40 million surplus they can buy their own private plane. Remember that idea they can do it now. Then let all the Sydney teams use it to travel to away games

They could, or they could give the $25mill they stripped out of grassroots funding back.

Well junior numbers are up. Maybe the arlc know a bit more about what funding was being wasted than you do

most of the actual junior production comes from clubs. The funding for the state leagues is for the nswrl and qrl to maintain their own little empires

That's a very sweeping statement, what jnrs, where, by how many, touch or contact, boys or girls? Where's your reference for such a broad statement?

haha, yep I'm sure you're right. What a waste of money grassroots funding is.
Try talking to clubs and you might get a very different picture of what's going on out there, especially country teams. This funding pays for Dev officers, NZRL, state bodies across the country, coach and ref training, the jnr participation programs and so it goes on.

Still not spending money on such nonsense does make the bottom line look better I'll give you that!

Well if you are so concerned about sports who have cut funding a lot you should look at afl

rugby league clubs have never received the grants they are getting now. 16 million per club which is basically the same as afl clubs get on average.

PVL isn't responsible for the game going from $70 over seven years under Packer between 93 and 00 and the deals we got between 98 and 2012. Our first decent deal was in 2012 under John Grant.
Which expansion clubs did John grant add ?

took a nsw boss to add another team to qld whilst
Guys like Beattie and grant twiddled their thumbs

and you know the qrl muppets didn’t actually want the dolphins in the nrl. They argued against nrl expansion in qld
