Before they threaten, Bulldogs and Souths could have discussions with the state gov and see what the future looks like at Homebush. It's a 25 year old stadium, whose current shape/ configuration doesn't suit any sport.

How long is old Stadium Australia going to be in it's present state?

I unfortunately think it will be until it either is unable to attract events or it starts showing safety issues.

The venue doesn't suit anyone and trying to fix that in its current shell, especially for the levels off the ground, is very expensive and possibly more expensive than just tearing it down & rebuilding.

The only real other options are, is they try and fix the lower bowl and don't care about higher up or they start breaking apart the ground, picking one grandstand first and rebuilding that and then slowly make their way around converting it into something more resembling a bigger Suncorp.

Yeah Sunday 6:15pm isn't a good time for footy. I don't know how it rates well either as the news is on then aswell as big tv shows. Latest a Sunday game should start is 5pm but even that's pushing it.

I'm really glad the Sunday 2pm starts return next weekend.

Perth from a timeframe perspective is perfect for TV as you can roll into a 9.30-11.30pm on the East Coast game every Saturday night giving more television time to the broadcaster. The crowd figures are less important but I am sure they can get 15,000 with a competitive team.

West Aussies love their sport and support it because other than going to the beach, there isn't a lot else to do in Perth than go to live sport.

It makes no sense why the Warriors only have 5/12 of their fixtures in that time slot. Such is NRL.

The NRL does not fixturing is frustrating as most games seem to be random rather than flowing into each other to create momentum across each time zone.

Perth's attendances have been great for Origins and the double headers held there. From a perspective of potential new team locations Perth has the best attendances by far for games played there compared to other potentials:

Backwater.

Perth Oval isn't too bad, it fits 20,500, has good corporate facilities and about 35% undercover, with the potential for bigger games to be held at the big round stadium.

Compared to PNG bid, Perth is better:
Moresby National Football Stadium - 14,800 (20% undercover)
Barlow Park, Cairns - 16,700 (not rectangular and less than 10% undercover)

That being said though, the South Island bid is the best option stadium-wise
Rugby League Park (current) - 18,000 (70% undercover)
Te Kaha (TBC mid 2026) - up to 30,000 (100% undercover)
