I’m bewildered because I only watched the last 15 minutes and just saw one of the most egregious attempts I’ve ever seen by a referee to ensure a team wins, but the thread is full of Raiders fans whinging. Sutton deadset decided the Storm weren’t allowed to play the ball.
I do think we got lucky. Another referee might not have penalised the Loiero elbow drop or the Stefano kick out.

But for every incident like that, you could find one like when Sutton penalised the Raiders for a “second effort” on a player who didn’t go into touch, and then when he realised he made a mistake, invent another penalty instead.

Sutton was awful, but the Storm lost their heads and gave him the opportunity to blow those penalties. If Tapine isn’t in Loiero’s head and he doesn’t drop the elbow, Storm win in regulation. If Stefano doesn’t have a brain explosion and just plays the ball, Storm probably win in golden point.

They gave Sutton the opportunity to penalise them and he took it. A little more discipline and he doesn’t get that chance.

perhaps the Storm can stop thugging it the minute it gets remotely “hard”. Why give the ref a chance to penalise you? You have the ball you muppets. Just get up and don’t elbow blokes while playing the thing

Probably some tough penalties against Liero... I would be fuming if I was a Storm fan. It's nice to see them get a raw deal sometimes though.

A lot going the Raiders way this season, we're now 7-2 and probably won't have many involved in Origin so top 4 is very attainable.

I reckon the one prior to the field goal would have been fine if the refs didn't just flat out ignore the same shit multiple times a game. It's the inconsistency as usual that is awful.

The second one against Stef should have just been play on with no bins and no penalty imo. Felt like Sutton making himself the star.

Last penalty against Loiero was fair enough. There wasn't a lot in it but it's still a penalty.

We absolutely got in their heads. That’s how we won it in the end.

You could see after Timoko scored, all Coates and Munster wanted to do was sledge and yell at Starling. That was reflected in how they carried themselves when the pressure was on.
It's good when someone on your team does it right?

Keep this energy next week when Reed Mahoney turns into a complete arsehole like Starling.

yeah the high shot at the end was 100% a penalty going by the last few weeks.

Great game. Even if we had lost. The Raiders put on a pretty composed performance (well for us). Not too wacky, plenty of work for all 80min. Ricky is no longer overcooking the first 50min where we get run down in the last 30.

5 wins in a row too. Good shit. Bring on next week's NRL main event, the top of the table clash with the Dogs. Welcome to Canberra Doggies....

Been in this forum since 2015 and I’ve noticed that apparently Storm are in “no position to complain” ever.

When are we allowed to?
You can absolutely complain. Being told that you can't complain is right of passage when you support a team that has a what 70% win record (??)

I'd wear it like a badge of honour, personally.

I've found that Melbourne supporters really struggle to deal with losses. Sure, you've had a few GF losses, but you're always in the picture and never dealt with actual tough times. Even in 2010, you were cooking merkins.

I was at the finals game v Canberra in 2019 where you were dudded with that Vunivalu call at the end. I was yahooing and carrying on, and the two Melbourne dudes behind me were like "your team paid the ref!" - like cringe. I said moite, f**k the Raiders too, but anyone but Melbourne. The look he gave me was like 'omg how could anyone not love Melbourne', just complete shock that one could dislike their club.

Just let rip and remember when people tell you to get f**ked that you support the club with a 70% win record and what the f**k would matter further than that.

TLDR: no one wants to hear from winners.

TLDR 2: f**k Melbourne

Eventually you lose so much it becomes second hat to your regular personality and you become emotionally dead inside.

I'm doing fine now though...

I mean complain all you want but your mistake was expecting LU to be reasonable when the Storms are playing.

Raiders were good value at 2.54. I barely put anything on them though because I'm a coward. Don't trust Storm's edge defence against the better attacking sides yet and Raiders have some weapons out wide. Isolating Meaney & Anderson is near guaranteed try time.
