Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

It was on subscription TV in the UK and Ireland. Even top level premier league games (e.g. Liverpool v Man United) only get 1-2m on Sky in the UK and Ireland. I don't know where all these worldwide viewers are coming from? It will most likely be tucked away on Pay TV in NZ, Fra, SA and other major nations.

As I said, it is a big thing in the world of rugby circles, but it is just a test series between the 6th ranked side and an invitational team when all said and done.

England in the women's Euros last week drew 8.3 (Semi final) and 12.2m (final) on the BBC UK to put it into some kind of perspective. It really hasn't made a dent in the UK outside its core rugby audience. In the UK it is football, daylight, and then the rest.

That gives you 2m viewers across both the UK, Ireland and Australia. It is a prestige event in the rugby calendar but let's not pretend it has wider appeal.

Thats the probel with England we give to Cricket, Football, Rugby Union and Rugby League yet sadly Football dwarfs the country....it's not right all the 4 games should get a even slice of the sporting pie.

Huh? I know what audiences Sky get. They are a fraction of FTA. There isn’t the degree of anti siphoning laws in the U.K. so more events get tucked away on Sky.

The U.K. Premier League gets audiences that pale in comparison to FTA on the BBC (for example).

I think you'll find there on the Irish Times and Independent (even the one you are showing there) that the No. 1 banner is rugby. Which is fairly remarkable given it is the #3 sport in the country and the All Ireland was last weekend. It has almost certainly been the biggest story in Ireland, although that is tied to the amount of influence Ireland has had on this years tour.

The fact that the series is over clearly means interest will go down. The English win in the Euros was the biggest story of the last month in the UK absolutely, that does not mean "hardly any coverage" as that other fella is trying to let you on with.
