The hard part isn’t the negations with players and their managers - far from it.

Hard part is actually on the welfare officer with assisting potential recruits with liveability locations for settling in Perth and how the move across will look for those recruits and their families.

I can confidently say that 25 players & their managers in the last 3 weeks have been in deep discussions with Bears. To say less than 50% or 10 players can’t sign before Christmas - I don’t buy it. It’s achievable. But it’s also expectations of what those 10 players look like, or what their job is, or where in the top 30 roster they fit.

But whether it happens or they only manage to get 5-8 recruits by Christmas then so be it. Dane made the comment and it was his wish and a goal, it wasn’t stated as certainty.

There’s currently 4 train/trial/development players locked in. 4 low end Top 30 roster depth players scheduled to sign immediately and 3 known names looking increasingly likely that they will sign.

Don’t be surprised if any official announcement actually has 3-4 players as part of that announcement as opposed to just a 1 single player announcement followed by another 1 single player announcement etc.

Any truth to the talk that they don’t want to name one player at a time to prevent that player having the pressure of being “the first signing”?

I thought they would have offer's all drawn up ready for Nov 1 and those offers would have been ready for every available player! But they definitely should have had a hit list in the UK and someone on the ground there with offers. Why isn't there Union players linked?

Mikey Lewis was one of the worst players I’ve ever seen during that recent ashes series. Bloke would be lucky to start for the bears NSW cup team.

Calling Meninga a mistake already is pretty harsh. Wouldn’t be panicking just yet.

Salary cap. Not transfer cap. Only players salaries are counted. The transfer is an agreement between companies.

why you think they are struggling? because people arent signing dotted line 3 weeks into negotiations? consider that their current clubs have likely had MONTHS to negotiate as a head start.

how is ben gardiner a no name? panthers assistant last 3 years. samoan head coach. from all reports a real genuine fella thats respected in the game. knows systems. has had access to some of the biggest names to pick their brains.

If they had half a clue they would still be trying to get papenhausen

The calibre of player they are getting rejected by is average at best

Plus a weak squad will delay the entry of nz2 and if Perth are getting smashed every week it’s not a good start for the club

There’s good talent out there too especially clubs carrying too many halves / fullbacks
