Game day thread (trial): 6pm Eels v Chooks 21/2/26

General thoughts on the game:

Even taking the result out of it we are just such a fun footy team to watch. I think most neutral footy fans would agree.

We could of gone to water after half time the chooks had momentum but we didn't drop our heads... the young boys that came on kept to our structures and we were pulling away from them at the end.

We have great depth in the forwards and halves. So many of these young guys look like they have got themselves up to first grade standard.

JDB looked uncomfortable in that ball playing 13 role. I think he might end up back at Prop before too long.

Bring on Melbourne!

I just think he is uncomfortable in anything other than a dragons jersey

The Penis would be a pretty good centre if he had a double digit IQ.

It's his haircut, mate. One would think that Bar Law would have at least given him his barber's number.

We look comfortable in our structures, and our ability to spread the ball is very impressive.

I particularly enjoyed seeing our young team stay composed, and reel the deficit back, to nab a win.

Something special is brewing out at Parramatta.

Also - Sean Russell seems to have gained some power, and speed.

I am genuinely happy that he got a big offer elsewhere, but he will be missed.

I might've been wrong about Teancum Brown.

Me, too.

I thought he was solid, at best, but he's showing he could be better than that.

Always happy to prove I know nothing!

I was happy with our defence they scored 2 tries from kicks and 2 tries from Doorey miss reading.

They also tried hard in the second half but couldn't cross for a point.

Impressive second half, coming back from a half-time deficit, and hold the Roosters second half trial side to 0 points. That will do the belief and confidence of those involved a boost.

Sure, trial form doesn't equate to anything really come the real season, and if we get the pre-season two game trophy it's pretty meaningless. But better to have those positives to celebrate, alongside the lessons for what needs to be improved for the season proper (e.g. among the first half/first choice 17).

And no injuries? No risk of suspensions? Tick. And on with the show...

I think he should be in the 19...
I love his commitment...will always put in
Coverage for backline and backrow..

He's a must for the extended 19 imo.

Probably moreso than Kelly, and potentially Joash - as I don't think we can carry both De Silva and Papali'i in a game day 19 in the same week for potential spine cover.

Not sure what to make of Pezet, overall pretty underwhelming tonight, even the late second half seemed to be moving a bit quick for him. Maybe it’s system and knocking some rust off, but both Joash and Lorenzo moved well in the Eels system.

But but the TCT said he trained well against nobody and created great combos and stuff

Samrani played well tonight it looks like the 2nd year players are starting to show some really good signs.

Kautoga as well as Joash played well tonight..

I can see us saying bye bye to Kelma.
