Pot ??

I've seen alcohol destroy lives. I've seen pot been an issue but not like alcohol. Two guys I grew up with smoke way too much pot. One guy doesn't have any money and him and his wife smoke it all the time. I can't say it's destroyed their lives though. The guy who isn't married has destroyed his life but alcohol and gambling have been the real issues and not the pot.

Alcohol though and gambling have done so much damage to people I know. Pot to me is the mildest drug of all of them and the difference between it and Alcohol is huge.

I'm not saying it's good but Alcohol in moderation is fine.
Have you tried saunas at the local pool that mucus will flow out of you like torrent

Abuse of pot changes how you think and some folk can’t recover from that. I’ve seen it. One can play Russian roulette and think one can handle it, but you won’t know.

We agree on grog and gambling.

Some people can’t even handle moderate grog. I’ve seen that too. They can become abusive

Drugs affect people differently depending on the person.

There’s nothing good about gambling. Sometimes I work in an affiliated industry. It should be more heavily regulated because… it’s an utter scam.

Most of the victims of gambling, they are problem gamblers. They go back and back and back and back and welcomed with open arms, free drinks and all that. It’s horrid.

Unfortunately Vlandy’s seems addicted to it.
You don’t see the bigger picture if you are doing something quite important or anything that involves a consequence if you get it wrong... So you miss the little things coz your so zoomed in ..that ends up meaning a major fk up.. something that’ll knock you around for a day or 2 anyway. You almost can’t help but fk it up somehow..

Old mate I know, he got the paranoia really bad.

Started thinking his friends and suppliers for his business were ripping him off.

His head was running around like a cockroach in the shed, panicking when discovered by a bright light.

Everyone de-friended him and the business went under.

Problems with family and women, it was catastrophic.

You get hooked on the green and your head is not right for it, you’re a goner.

There’s the odd functioning one, but when it’s the lifestyle and your head can’t cope…same with any drug I guess.

It’s fine untill you give it up. I stopped in May last year .. then had a bit on Nov coz I was on a 3 day beach holiday none since. It’s a pretty different world. I’m amazed I gave up. I tried fof 30 years and failed. Just have to get to day 30. That’s the hardest thing to do

What did you give up ?

This is the problem with pot. Some people become pigs. Smoking it is a problem as well but you have to put it in context. It's not like smoking ciggies. It doesn't cause cancer like that.

You can vape now. Vape on a low temperature that you get from the chemist. Do it in moderation and it's as low risk as any drug you can take.

I should add the proviso but I wouldn't touch the stuff. Apparently magic mushrooms are safer.

No but I doubt anything comes out of me. I do way too much exercise and eat exceptionally well. I constantly have to do recovery exercises otherwise I'd be sore. I retired early and I basically just exercise to fill my days up.

@The Silverdale Phantom - I didn't consciously give up alcohol but I just find I hardly drink. I drink a couple of times per year and usually just a glass or two.

I do vape pot but it's in such minor amounts and I can go without no problems. I get a script and never take it all. I haven't had any for it must be 2 months. I don't even notice when I stop taking it. No withdrawals. No change in lung function. I will get some prior to the season starting though.

To be fair I had a mate who was a schizophrenic. It was hard to take. I remember watching TV and he jumped up and said you are all talking about me. We were all just watching TV. He got put on meds but he would go off them every so often and go bonkers again.

The thing is he smoked pot very rarely but drank a tonne of alcohol. I haven't seen him for years but a mate I kept in contact with said he saw him and he was drinking. My mate said he doesn't trust him and asked him why he did it. He said it was good to socialize.

I have no huge problem with the Iongi photo. It should not simply be ignored by the Eels and swept under the carpet though.

Iongi is a rep of his club and the nrl and there are several responsibilities that come with that. One would be to not get caught up in situations like the one he was in. Maybe, he needs to lose the friend that released the photo and find new company.

If a photo was put up with him doing that in a week or so, that would be a bigger problem.

Not a hanging offence...but it needs attention from the powers that be.

This is a good point. I don't know what they can really do. I mean we have players snorting cocaine and getting into car accidents and there have been so many instances of DV.

If it's proven that a player has committed a crime, then they should be charged.

Players at NRL level need to be aware that they are public figures and are representing public organizations. Expectations come with that and they are very well compensated for doing so. NRL players (like it or not) are role models to some. Yes, you can pose an argument that they shouldn't be....but the fact is they are to some.

Iongi now has a responsibility to not be placed in that position again.

Iongi was a victim of revenge drug porn.

That’s the whisper.

He allegedly engaged in the extra marital.

If the release of the photo was illegal, the images shouldn’t be able to be used in evidence.

An arrest on the basis of stupidity having your photo taken doing or looking like you are doing, drugs seems appropriate….

He’s quite the young nong.

Sounds fkn ideal. I wish I had more time for working out. Muscle growth is critical for over 60’s. I have too many big rests in between. I do fast also. Big time. Which I know saves my waist

Is this really fair ? Assuming he didn't get it legally because you can now get it legally then put it in it's proper context. It's a pretty hard thing to police though. What if they run a red light ? Jay walk ? Get drunk and disorderly ? How does that compare to DV ?

My take is look at the big picture first and then the nuance. Would the police even fine someone for that ?

The bubbler boy (I have forgotten his name) got kicked out of the league for a mate taking a photo of him peeing into his own mouth and putting it on line.
IMO, they can do what they want, but if they want to earn more money per year then most of them would in 10 years, then they need to show some sense and respect the hand that feeds them.
