The indication for being an NRL player isn't necessarily playing NRL by 21, but playing regular NSW cup by 21 (there are always exceptions but it's pretty rare if a player doesn't).

Smith is poor example. Brown resumes is poor in comparison to Smiths

Smith was a regular top 13 starter for panthers flegg at only 19. Brown barely played SG ball at 19 for West's.

Smith was then starting prop for panthers NSW cup side in round 1, at only 20. Covid then killed the comp

At 21 Smith started in 11 NSW cup games before Covid killed the comp.

If Covid didn't kill the comps, Smith probably has played 40 nsw cup games by 22 (assuming no long term injury). And maybe a better chance of debuting earlier then he did.

That is type of resume you want of player to indicate they may have genuine potential to be an NRL player. Not only one NSW cup game by 21.

BTW, I hope Brown makes it, and he did good in the trials! And obviously he has impressed Ryles and co.

Now if you want to take your kids to a broncos game it costs you $716 to see a game of football.

Meanwhile it cost Ezra Mam just $850 in the queensland courts to drive unlicensed under the influence of drugs.

Can someone please explain how one is only $134 more then the other.

Some people are late bloomers whilst some 18yld FIZZLE out by 20 ( JA is a great example )
I just enjoy the game for what it is and dont sit their with a notepad and calculator trying to work out who might be a good player. Its a game and meant to be fun.

Gehamat Shibasaki is pretty good example made his debut in 2018 at the broncos then moved around Kinghts Cows Bunnies then finally back to the Brincos wins a comp plays for QLD and now AUS. He had potential when making his debut just took him a long time to actually figure it out...

My take watching juniors is that almost 90% have the ability in that age group its if they want to put in the hard work for the next 5 years every day to make it into the NRL. There is also other factors as well lifestyle/health etc which are other reasons why they just get spat out so soon.

He is a starter in the UK now. That’s better than a backup in the NRL. Jake Arthur has exceeded expectations.

Notepads and calculators are heaps of fun.
