I’m in Mexico on tequila lol. Why would I have been lobbying for north Sydney? Ns we’re getting crowds under 1000 in 2009.
Where as we had a crowd over 15k Perth fans in perth for a game in 2009.
What do at the gate nsw cup fans vs fans for a nrl game at have to do with TV value?

IMG_2388.jpeg
Or is the context fans that bring in viewership numbers? In that case

Based in this assessment of yours, you should have been lobbying for Bears in WA since 2009.

context is everything.

Have yourself a good evening mate.

All the talk about Pvl rescuing the English game when imo this is the guy whose doing it

And most pommie fans hate him

He’s responsible for 14 teams and adding Bradford York and toulose which all are strong additions to the league

All they need is to get the tv deal back to 40 million pa and all their short term problems go away and the league can stabilise and maybe look to 16 teams

This is where a little knowledge is dangerous. If you think Nigel Wood is a good sports administrator then I have some magic beans for you.

To be crowing 2 weeks in 😂 For starters how about you wait until:
* No club goes bust during the season (Salford last year)
* All teams get equal central funding (York and Toulouse are getting half of what the rest are getting)
* Teams don't have to subsidise away teams travel (Catalans and Toulouse)
* TV money increases by at least proportionally more for the number of clubs and inflation

Super League couldn't sustain 12 teams last year, so expanding to 14 is a bold strategy. An immediate symptom of this is that the tier below Super League is in a absolute state with heritage teams such as Featherstone and Halifax going bust.

Perth Reds were announced as an NRL expansion side in May 2025. Their first match will be 22 months later in March 2027. This expansion translates as 5.5% of the league in 2027.

The 3 expansion sides were announced in October, and they play their first match 4 months later in February 2026. This expansion translates as over 21%of the league in 2026.

The plan was always to go to 14 clubs however this has been rushed.

You state that all they need to do is double the TV income. Consider that Sky were not consulted regarding this expansion and if anything warned against it once it was being progressed, should indicate their feelings when the TV negotiations kick off.

Was Nigel wood the same bloke that sold the naming rights or something for free pizza?

The renowned nationwide transportation and distribution company has not paid any cash to secure the naming rights of the Stobart Super League but will instead freely advertise the game on 100 of the 2,250-strong fleet of Eddie Stobart trucks...

... Five of the 14 Super League clubs voted against it, but RFL chief executive Nigel Wood insisted that it was "too good to turn down".

Wood was also in post when Super League went down from 14 sides too. So lets nip this myth in the bud that Wood is anything other than a stooge for a cabal of myopic, luddite owners who are running roughshod over the sports governance, risking established relationships with the sports few commercial partners and significant funding being cut by Sport England which would utterly devastate the sports' grassroots.

The sooner the NRL saves RL in the northern hemisphere, the better.

Surely you must be joking ….. the guy is allergic to Rugby League being played outside the M62 area .

NRL will buy superleague removing smaller poor performing clubs. NRL Europe may start with only ten teams. More will added including from second division like here in Australia with bears and dolphins. Clubs just need to get shit together. NRL Europe will encompass the rugby league heartlands of Northern England and Southern France. With grant money a team like Toulouse will be a powerhouse and poach players from top 14 comp. Over time NRL Europe will expand to other markets. Teams from the developing scene of the Balkans will be included. Red Star Belgrade will be amongst the strongest teams.

Last time he was in charge he got a record tv deal

And adding toulose York and Bradford has been a master stroke all his actions

It’s weird how the perception is so against him in England when the facts of what his done don’t correlate

Clubs that were admitted knew what the funding was going to be and it’s better than being in the champ

Pvl won’t change any clubs unless they go broke

Like Australia he will want the clubs on board so will bribe them with money like he’s done here

If they go to 16 teams with London and Salford that’s just about it realistically for super league unless huddersfield get booted which is unlikely

Contradicts what Vlandys has said about 14 teams.
