Geez even hbf new stand has a bigger roof than that, and it still only covers 3/4 of the seats!
What’s the rumoured amount of the HBF upgrade ? Was it $200 million? Wont get much for that

With suburban grounds, you need to take what you can get because who knows if you get the money again. Why even build a new stand if this is the result? Doesn't make sense. Why waste that money?
Edit - ha, i just regurgitated what the guy said in the tweet.

The premier mentioned upgrading the stadium after the Broncos GF win in time for the OlympicsThere is no upgrade of Lang Park happening.
The Queensland Government is building a 65k oval for other sports.
That’s it.
Is it in the budget? The premier mentioned upgrading the stadium after the Broncos GF win in time for the Olympics
the capacity is not big enough.Lang Park is what, 20-ish years old? Why does it need an upgrade?

Since 2020The NRL needs a stadiums strategy. The absence of one is a major failing of leadership in the game.
It's at breaking point in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Perth, Newcastle and Auckland, for a variety of reasons.
suncorp doesn't have to be in olympics budget, it can be in any annual state budget between now and when its greenlit. if theyre doing minor budget works to still uplift capacity then theres no need for it to be part of a specific olympics budget. the state gov would have set aside costings for maintenance and minor upgrades to stadium infrastructure across the state regardless. this is why stadiums queensland even exists, to manage those costs and look after the maintenance and upgrades works as they are ok'ed. probably @Red&BlackBear is best poster to talk about it.Is it in the budget?
Yep biggest weakness nrl has had under Pvl is he’s done zilchThe NRL needs a stadiums strategy. The absence of one is a major failing of leadership in the game.

Since 2020
Cowboys with Country Bank Stadium
Roosters with Allianz
Eels with CommBank
Panthers with Panther Park
would have had full rebuilds.
McDonald (for Knights) completed 15 years ago in 2011.
5 teams have been serviced well including 3 in Sydney alone.
I'd argue only Raiders at GIO needs immediate works. The rest are serviceable still. You mentioning Newcastle is like you've never been there.
Perth are just getting Bears now. Haven't even played a game yet. Chiefs will get a stadium too.

I’ve never been to Newcastle either but there should be some sort of plan to get stands built at the ends, be it both at once or one at a time. I’d say they should have a ~40k stadium, it doesn’t have to look like Allianz so it wouldn’t cost the world with the 2 sideline stands already built.
Auckland similar boat, it should be easy/cheap enough to get Mt Smart to 30k+ without having to knock it all down and start again. They have a whole end currently unused, we saw last few years there are options to get temp seating on the Northern end.
Ideal scenario would have been a new CBD stadium but look like that’s parked for now. The potential Eden park upgrade doesn’t look completely terrible, the retractable seating would make 3 sides plus the bottom tier of the Northern decent viewing for rectangular sports.
You're very insistent on having no roof haha.Having done Allegiant stadium on the weekend, we need a stadium of this level with about 15k more seats and no roof in Sydney. Accor is absolutely horrendous in comparison.
