Wellington SHOULD be the next NRL team.

The Auckland/Wellington North Island side would cover a population base of 3.4 million, while the Christchurch/Dunedin South Island side would cover a population of 1 million (less than Auckland by itself). Geographically your idea is an even spread, but not in any other way. I lived in...

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

It was mentioned in the Knights latest update that this will be organised once a little more dust has settled. :)

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

I can see all points of view, and I'm just glad I'm not the one making the decision.

Wellington SHOULD be the next NRL team.

I don't think taking matches away from Auckland is a good idea, they can more than support their own side. Why would you play the majority of games in Christchurch when Wellington has the greater support for a side? Largest crowd for round four by over 4000 people ...

Wellington SHOULD be the next NRL team.

As long as they don't find they're destroying any home ground advantage, that sounds fine. Wellington does show up for an occasion, and if the side is doing well. If there was ever a home final played at the stadium, I'd put my last dollar on it selling out. Unfortunately there hasn't been a...

Wellington SHOULD be the next NRL team.

Crowds at NRL games over the years in both cities would disagree with you that Christchurch has the more passionate league supporters. Wellington averages 21,927 over seven games with a high of 30,112, Christchurch averages 16,008 over five games with a high of 20,721. Rugby league is huge out...

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

So the moral is ... she doesn't watch league and doesn't have a clue what she's talking about? This is news how?

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

I'm by no means a twitter troll ... in fact I don't think I've ever had a go at anyone on there in 8000 odd tweets. But I had to have a go at this Neil Breen loser. How do people who report this rubbish live with themselves?

Wellington SHOULD be the next NRL team.

It wasn't even cold over the weekend! 19 degrees today ... harden up. Wellington is no Dunedin.

Wellington SHOULD be the next NRL team.

I have to agree, they are moving at glacial speed to expand the game. One new side in the last fifteen plus years! Look at what the AFL, union and soccer has done in that time ... It would have almost have been preferential to have tried a few clubs and had them go under in that time, at least...

Wellington SHOULD be the next NRL team.

He'll have a red face when he checks the fine print after signing up an NRL side. "Bloody hell ... didn't have a clue about any of this ..."

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

Just watching on tv, it's a very good crowd at Newcastle and clearly a very emotional day. Great tribute to Alex.

I thought you said you were gonna stop debating this out of respect for McKinnon?

Wellington SHOULD be the next NRL team.

I certainly wouldn't complain about a Wellington side playing two games in Christchurch and two games in Dunedin each year, and I don't think many would. Just on the speculation that Westpac Stadium couldn't have a side, here's a comment from the Westpac Stadium CEO, he says they're ready to...

Wellington SHOULD be the next NRL team.

I'd be pretty surprised if this was still an issue. The number of night games the Phoenix play is minimal in the extreme these days. I'm not sure exactly how many Westpac is allowed per year, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't easily room to accommodate another side.

Wellington SHOULD be the next NRL team.

Another very solid crowd in Wellington tonight, 22,500 odd. Sadly that's it for us for at least another 12 months.

    Crowd Watch 2014

Probably that we hadn't had an NRL game since 2004 before then. I think it is for sure! Wellington is crying out for it. I brought a league virgin along with me today, and she loved the attacking play and said it was the most she'd ever enjoyed an event at the Wellington stadium. With the...

Don't go above the perpendicular line relative to a person standing up ... does that mean don't do this?

Alex McKinnon possibly Quadriplegic - Mclean guilty of dangerous throw - 7 weeks

Another great point, if you want to go back to the real historical genesis of this incident. When I first started watching league in 92, if a player tackled around the legs, he was allowed to come over the top of the tackled player to get to marker. The tackle took it's own natural time to...
