    So assuming they already have budget for this "mid range up and coming 2nd row player"..... Would you spend Pearce's 600k and top that budget up to buy a rep level 2nd rower (like Angus Critchon quality) and gamble on the ponga/clifford combo.... or would you just spend it on another 600k...

    He didn't go well at no6 last time because he was partnered with Pearce who's only success has come when he has a much more competent half with him that can organise and kick. When Pearce is the primary half, he buckles. All ponga needs in a halves partner is a calm head with a good kicking...
