    Because we are negotiating with players who are already under contract elsewhere for 2025, the process gets dragged out while the clubs talk about how much each party will put in for the deal. Think the process would be so much quicker if we chased more players off contract this year.

    Not sure if it has already been posted here, but the Telegraph is reporting that the Dragons are talking with 3 players who are under contract with other clubs for 2025 or beyond. So as well as Safiti and Holmes, RCG is also being looked at for 2025.

    Does anyone in the game truly believe that there are very few if any who adhere to this 1st November date for talking to players?? It's the NRL, so there will always be loopholes and work arounds for those who choose to follow that path.

    You never know what to believe when it comes to rumours in the NRL. On channel 10 news earlier they spoke to Todd Payten about Holmes, and he said they would consider any request for an early release depending on the circumstances.

    How funny. Gus saying in an article on Fox Sports that the Dragons could play Holmes at fullback. Always plenty of smoke and mirrors wherever Gus is involved.

    I have seen Mat Feagai play fullback in the KOE Cup, and he went okay under the high ball. Different kettle of fish tomorrow when Cleary puts up those monster bombs with a lot of hang time. Can see Feagai and Lomax doing a fair bit of swapping positions throughout the game.

    Agree. Flanagan by all reports is tough but fair when it comes to these type of negotiations. Would not surprise if Flanagan's first offer was for the Dragon's to pay around $450K.

    Bottom line for me is that Gould is in a position of privilege in our game, he has clearly over stepped the mark, and now walked away without any consequences. So many people want to bag the Bunker, but without it, there would be even more wrong decisions, especially when it comes to tries...
